Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team to achieve project goals in ageing, stroke, and cardiovascular disease research.
  • Apply molecular and cell biology techniques, staining, advanced microscopy, and computational analysis; prior experience in these areas is an advantage.
  • Handle laboratory animals confidently, with prior experience in animal handling, dosing, and sample collection.
  • Analyse omics datasets; familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS or R is preferred.
  • Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including procurement, preventive maintenance of equipment, and ensuring laboratory safety compliance.
Qualifications

Experience and Competency

The applicant should:

  • Hold a good degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, or a related discipline from a well-recognised university, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Be able to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate solid organisational abilities.
  • Be proficient with common software tools, e.g., MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, SPSS, R, Stata, etc.

  • Positions are offered on a one-year contract, with potential for renewal.
