Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team focused on developing computational models of the immune response. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates interested in applying quantitative and computational methods to biomedical research, particularly in immunology.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate: -

  • Develop and analyse mathematical models (e.g., ODEs, PDEs, stochastic models) of immune processes.
  • Implement simulations and perform computational experiments using high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, or Julia).
  • Curate and integrate experimental data to calibrate and validate models.
  • Work collaboratively with experimentalists and data scientists.
  • Prepare code, figures, and documentation for publications and presentations.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Possess strong knowledge of differential equations and applied mathematical modeling.
  • Proficient in at least one scientific programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, Julia).
  • Demonstrated interest in biological applications, particularly immunology.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior research experience in computational biology, mathematical modeling, or immunology.
  • Familiarity with numerical methods, parameter estimation, and data visualisation would be advantageous.
  • Have some knowledge of probability and statistics.
