Job summary

CHINESE DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE COUNCIL is seeking four part-time Research Assistants to support a pilot project focusing on education and community development. You will assist with fieldwork, surveys, FGDs, data management, and basic analysis, working closely with the Research Fellow and project team.

This role suits students or fresh graduates with an interest in social research. You should be organized, dependable, and comfortable working with children and centre staff, using Excel or Google

Qualifications

  • Students, fresh graduates, or individuals with an interest in education, social research, programme evaluation, community development or data analysis are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable interacting with children, tutors and centre staff in community-based settings.
  • Organised, dependable, punctual and detail-oriented.
  • Able to follow standardised procedures and maintain consistency across data collection sessions.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or similar spreadsheet tools.
  • Prior experience in surveys, interviews, FGDs or basic data analysis is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of post-surveys for Primary 6 students (September) and Primary 3 students (October).
  • Assist with additional survey administration activities as required.
  • Brief students using a standardised survey script and ensure instructions are communicated clearly and consistently.
  • Verify survey completion before submission and monitor survey completion rates.
  • Provide on-site coordination support during survey sessions at assigned CDAC centres.
  • Assist with Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), including logistics coordination, facilitation support, note-taking and light transcription.
  • Prepare field notes and documentation following survey or FGD sessions, where required.
  • Enter survey responses and field records from hardcopy forms into digital databases or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Clean, organise and validate survey data, including checking for missing responses, duplicate entries and inconsistencies.
  • Support basic data analysis, including response rate calculations, pre- and post-survey comparisons, and centre-level summaries.
  • Assist in preparing the pilot reporting pack, including tables, charts and concise written summaries.
  • Work closely with the Research Fellow and the CDAC project team to ensure data is managed consistently, securely and responsibly.

Job description

We are looking for four part-time Research Assistants to support the implementation of a pilot research project. This role is well suited for students, fresh graduates, research staff, or individuals with an interest in education, social research, programme evaluation, community engagement and data analysis.

Employment Details
  • Engagement Period: August to November 2026 (16 weeks)
  • Working Hours: Up to 7 hours per week, depending on project needs and data collection schedules
  • Remuneration: S$80-S$100 per session, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
