Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulous Repair Engineer to lead the creation and certification of complex repair schemes for Aero Engine Components. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and performing detailed cost and business case analyses for repair operations. This role requires an in-depth understanding of gas turbine engine components and various special repair processes.

Key Responsibilities

The Repair Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of component repair development, focusing on three core areas:

  1. Repair Scheme & Process Leadership: Lead the development, creation, and refinement of robust repair processes and overhaul documentation, including Repair Schemes designs, Engine Manual updates (Cleaning and Inspection chapters), and Special Process Manuals.
  2. Manufacturing Enablement: Lead the design and development of essential tooling and inspection aids, create all necessary manufacturing documentation (routers, data cards), and plan the required facilities, machines, and consumables for repair execution.
  3. Business & Quality Compliance: Conduct thorough repair business case assessments (including cost analysis), and lead all First Article Inspection (FAI) demonstrations to ensure strict adherence to aerospace quality standards such as AS9102 and AS13000.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualifications: Minimum Engineering Degree Holder in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical), or equivalent.
  • Experience: 8 to 10 years of hands‑on experience (post‑qualification) working on aero engines within Airlines, Aerospace & Defence, or related Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organisations.
Technical Knowledge

The candidate must possess deep technical knowledge across the following domains:

  • Gas Turbine Expertise: In-depth knowledge of gas turbine engines, their components, operational function, and the working principles of critical engine systems (e.g., oil, fuel, air, bleed).
  • Special Process Mastery: Strong technical understanding of special repair processes including heat treatment, thermal spray, glass bead and shot peening, arc welding, Wide Gap brazing, and machining.
  • Design & Inspection Standards: Strong proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for tool and fixture design, alongside expertise in various inspection methods, including Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
Desired Skills (Highly Valued)

Preference will be given to candidates who possess previous experience in engine assembly/disassembly, have worked within an MRO shop environment with exposure to repair facilities and machines, and have specific repair experience with Nozzle Guide Vanes and Stator Vanes. Proficiency in using the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is also valued.
