About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Veterinary Rehabilitation and Hydrotherapy (VRH) Assistant to join our dynamic rehabilitation team. In this role, you will support and collaborate closely with our physiotherapists, veterinarians, and rehabilitation specialists to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to animal patients recovering from injury, surgery, or mobility challenges.
As a senior team member, you will also guide and mentor junior assistants, ensuring smooth operations and the highest standards of patient handling and therapy delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Therapy Support
- Assist in implementing advanced rehabilitation treatments including hydrotherapy, laser therapy, therapeutic exercises, and manual therapy.
- Oversee and guide junior assistants during therapy sessions to ensure safe and effective handling of patients.
- Prepare and maintain rehabilitation rooms and equipment before and after sessions.
- Monitor patient progress and provide accurate updates to the supervising rehabilitation therapist or veterinarian.
Patient Care & Handling
- Handle patients using low-stress and fear-free techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Provide physical and emotional support to patients during therapy sessions.
Documentation & Communication
- Record and track therapy sessions, progress, and patient responses accurately.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on home care exercises and post-therapy instructions.
Collaboration
- Work closely with veterinarians, physiotherapists, and specialists across departments to coordinate patient rehabilitation plans.
- Participate in case discussions and contribute to the development of rehabilitation protocols.
Requirements
- Diploma in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, or related field (required).
- At least 1–2 years of experience in veterinary rehabilitation, nursing, or related animal care settings.
- Strong animal handling and observation skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and detail-oriented approach to animal care.
- Willingness to work on a rotating schedule, including some weekends and public holidays.
