Job summary

CMA CGM Group is seeking a Regional Tax Manager for APAC to serve as a trusted business partner to finance and business stakeholders across the region. The role involves translating complex tax issues into practical guidance, managing tax controversy and audits, and supporting cross-border projects and M&A activity.

The ideal candidate will have Chartered Accountant/Chartered Tax Professional credentials, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Taxation, and 5+ years in international tax within an MNC

Role Overview:



You will act as a trusted business partner to finance and business stakeholders across the region, translating complex tax issues into clear, practical guidance, managing tax controversy and audits, and supporting cross-border projects and M&A activity. This is a hands‑on advisory role for someone who enjoys variety, ambiguity and building relationships as much as they enjoy the technical work.



Key Responsibilities:



Tax Advisory and Risk Management



  • Develop strong partnerships and provide tax technical expertise to country finance teams and business units, supporting them in navigating tax challenges

  • Communicate complex tax matters clearly and effectively to non-tax stakeholders

  • Review tax positions taken and provision recommendations with management

  • Manage and challenge external advisors in Asia-Pacific jurisdictions as required

  • Collaborate with Asia-Pacific and Global Headquarters, business and finance departments to facilitate solutioning of tax risks and exposures


Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution



  • Controversy management: active management of all income tax, VAT/GST and Transfer Pricing queries, tax audits, tax litigations or challenges in the Asia-Pacific region

  • Plan and strategize best tactics in defending the Group’s tax and Transfer Pricing positions

  • Mitigate tax risks while supporting the current business models operated by the Group’s entities in Asia-Pacific

  • Coordinate and supervise stakeholder management and proper implementation of the solutions to ensure tax outcomes are secured



Mergers & Acquisitions and other Projects



  • Lead for tax & provide strategic tax advice to internal stakeholders on new business initiatives and projects

  • Advise businesses to navigate through taxation matters in a complex and time‑sensitive environment


What We’re Looking For:



  • Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Professional, or equivalent qualification; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Taxation, or related field.

  • 5+ years of tax experience in an MNC or professional advisory firm, with strong international tax knowledge, particularly across APAC.

  • Strong technical tax, tax risk, controversy, Transfer Pricing, and advisory experience.

  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel, data analysis, tax reporting, and finance systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail, data integrity, and ability to identify tax risks and trends.

  • Strong problem‑solving and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage complex issues across multiple APAC jurisdictions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify complex tax matters and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Collaborative, approachable, and comfortable working across diverse cultures, geographies, and functions.

  • Ability to coach and develop finance colleagues on tax matters and emerging developments.

  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, ambiguous, and complex environment.
