The commercial banking unit based in Singapore specializes in managing KBC group relationships in and outside Belgium and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). It also offers an invaluable and specialized platform for those companies in Singapore that conduct business with, and in, Belgium and CEE.

Position Summary

Join us as the Regional Head of Risk, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding the risk strategy for our Asia Pacific operations. This is a high-impact leadership position overseeing risk management across multiple markets, ensuring our business remains resilient and compliant while driving sustainable growth.

You will lead the development and execution of risk frameworks, manage credit risk decisions, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of governance and integrity. Key Responsibilities
Risk Management (30%)
  • Design and implement robust risk management policies and processes across Credit, Operational, Financial, Regulatory, and Cybersecurity risks.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks.
  • Champion a culture of risk awareness and compliance through training and coaching.
Credit Advisory & Decision-Making (40%)
  • Lead and supervise the credit advisory function for Asia Pacific.
  • Coordinate weekly credit committee meetings and act as the key decision-maker for credit matters.
  • Ensure timely submission and follow-up of credit applications with Head Office and internal teams.
Credit Policy & Strategic Projects (20%)
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Head Office on credit policies and delegated authorities.
  • Drive credit-related projects, portfolio reviews, and policy updates.
  • Optimize workflows and implement best practices for credit operations.
  • Manage problem loan accounts and oversee quarterly reporting on provisions and writebacks.
Risk Monitoring & Stress Testing (10%)
  • Conduct semi-annual stress testing and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Act as secretary for the Risk Management Committee and lead ESG-related reporting.
  • Address credit and ESG queries during audits across Asia Pacific.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 10–15 years in risk management, with leadership experience across Asia Pacific.
  • Expertise: Strong background in credit risk management in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai markets.
  • Skills: Strategic thinker, problem solver, and effective communicator at all levels.
  • Languages: Excellent command of English and Mandarin (To support regional coordination between Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai branches).
  • Values: High standards of compliance, integrity, and professional discipline.
