Job Purpose and Scope:

Describe the responsibility and authority (budget, revenue, internal/external contacts)

  • This role provides financial leadership for the Commercial Operations in China, Japan and India region, and is a member of the leadership teams for these countries/hubs.
  • This role oversees the full spectrum of finance and provides financial counsel and support to China, Japan and India Region GMs and their direct reports, via the following specific activities: financial planning & analysis, financial reporting & analysis, general accounting, and internal controls.
  • This role also provides key financial data/information to the Area Controller, APAC.
  • Primary function of the role is to execute the full range of controllership responsibilities for China, Japan and India Region commercial operations, while ensuring timeliness, accuracy and integrity of all financial information, and providing for compliance with Corporate and Division financial policies and procedures.
  • Key internal contacts include Country GMs for China, Japan and India Region, and their direct reports in commercial organizations, Area Controller APAC, Area GM APAC, Area ComEx Manager APAC, APAC Demand Planner, Internal Audit
  • Combined revenue size is USD 35MM (44% of Total APAC revenue size)
Core Job Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
  • Develop and lead Forecasting/Business Review processes (Monthly, Quarterly LBEs) for China, Japan and India Region. Details include:
  • Working closely with respective country/hub GMs on sales forecast and planning.Correlating sales pipelines to forecast.Highlighting and investigating exceptions.Providing in-market/to-market, inventory analysis for distributor markets.Forecasting Headcount/Expense by country by function.Facilitating gap analysis versus financial commitments.Preparing and communicating timely forecasting package to APAC region as well as Global Division in US.Preparing and completing forecast load into Financial system.
  • Drive & monitor performance improvements in all areas (financial and non-financial) working with GMs, and take corrective actions where needed when risk is identified. This includes but not limited to:
  • Monitoring inventory levels in the distribution channels and that exceptionally low or high levels of inventory in the channels are flagged for discussions and resolutions.Working closely with respective GMs to identify and track assigned KPIs for their respective country; providing analysis and recommendations to Management in order to improve country performances.Delivering in-depth meaningful analysis of business performance in a timely manner and following up on the financial impact of key initiatives/projects and results evaluation. Pro-actively tracking orders and highlighting risks during last week of every month as early-warnings to senior management. Reconciling final sales by country during month-end closing to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting. Preparing monthly Sales and P&L Packages. performance insights and variance analysis on major P&L lines to country GMs.Supporting respective GMs and providing financial evaluations such as Price/Volume Analysis, Gross Margin Analysis, Risk Evaluations and Return on Investment for Big Deals.Responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the P&L including Sales, SG&A, Headcount and Investment data for LBE'sSupporting Management for preparation of the management presentations and related backup/analysis. The presentation, backup, and analysis must be comprehensive and include the assessment of all data and assumptions used in the planning development for reasonableness and the degree of achievability of these forecasts.
  • Assist and lead various profit maximization projects in the Area and Region.
  • Build strategic partnerships with internal and external executive level management and key customers to further organizational objectives.
  • Support APAC Area Controller in financial review over APOC commitments and expenditures across the region to ensure compliance with Abbott Corporate accounting policies and procedures
BUSINESS EXCELLENCE
  • Uphold business integrity by ensuring adherence to group governance, policies, controls and ethics.
  • Supports Area Controller APAC with driving change & process improvement, efficient FP&A cadence, appropriate standardization, automation and simplification.
  • Links and streamlines FP&A processes within finance community (with CFS and BPs).

Knowledge / Education Required:

Identify the knowledge, expertise, educational level required to perform this job successfully (product/industry knowledge, technical/business acumen, degree, professional certification etc)

Degree in Accounting, Finance. Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles with the ability to apply this knowledge to support business needs.

Ability to plan, implement and administer financial information and control systems. Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting.

Professional Accounting qualifications (eg CPA, ACCA) is preferred.

Real world hands-on working experience supporting China, Japan and India Region commercial organization will be highly preferred.

Advantage: Financial experience in a healthcare industry. In depth understanding of the sales and operations planning process.
