Job Description Summary

As a Regional Category Manager within the Global Sourcing & Procurement (GSP) organization at Applied Materials, you will serve as a strategic business partner and sourcing expert, driving category excellence across the Facilities and Equipment domain in the Asia Pacific region. This role demands a high level of procurement acumen, market intelligence, and stakeholder engagement to deliver measurable value in cost optimization, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, influencing sourcing decisions across multiple business units, and will be instrumental in shaping long‑term category strategies aligned with corporate objectives. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, contractual expertise, and operational execution, with a strong emphasis on cross‑border collaboration and supplier performance management.

Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and execute regional category strategies for Facilities and Equipment, leveraging internal demand insights and external market intelligence.
  • Identify and deliver cost savings, value engineering, and supplier innovation opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a multi‑year sourcing roadmap in alignment with business priorities.
Sourcing & Contract Management
  • Lead end‑to‑end sourcing processes including RFx development, bid evaluation, and supplier negotiations.
  • Draft, redline, and manage complex contracts (MSAs, SOWs, pricing agreements, T&Cs) in collaboration with Legal and Compliance teams.
  • Ensure alignment with global procurement policies and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, translating business needs into sourcing strategies.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews, performance evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Drive supplier consolidation, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Data‑Driven Decision Making
  • Utilize tools like SAP SRM, Workday Sourcing, and Tableau to analyze spend, track KPIs, and generate actionable insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic sourcing decisions.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Procurement Expertise: 5–6 years in indirect procurement, with 3–5 years focused on facilities and construction sourcing.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to interpret complex business needs and translate them into actionable sourcing strategies.
  • Contractual Acumen: Proficiency in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk mitigation.
  • Analytical Rigor: Advanced Excel and data visualization skills (Tableau preferred).
  • Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders across functions and geographies.
  • Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Chinese to support regional supplier and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; certifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Project Management are advantageous.
