The Asia Pacific region is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with plans to elevate our business to new heights. As part of this evolution, we are launching the search for a Regional Business Line Director, Marine Site Characterization (MSC), Asia Pacific. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity within the APAC Regional Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to Group Director Asia Pacific, and functionally to the Global Business Line Director, MSC, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the performance and strategic direction of the MSC Business Line across the region. With a strong focus on our “Towards Full Potential” strategy, this role will lead efforts to strengthen market presence, deliver profitable growth, and foster career development for our people—all while achieving ambitious revenue and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Focus, marketing, Business Development & Tendering:

  • Manage sales from prospect to tender for key customers.

  • Allocate business development resources within the regional business line.

  • Approve bid/no-bid decisions and project setup definitions for larger projects.

  • Approve large tender proposals and manage large tenders and project resource allocation.

2. Strategic Direction, Budgeting & Performance Realization, Capital Allocation:

  • Accountable for organizational structure and key management processes within the regional business line.

  • Responsible for short-mid-term planning, execution, and performance realization for the regional business line.

  • Accountable for short-mid-term planning and performance realization for the service lines within the business lines.

  • Responsible for asset investment decisions (capex proposals)

  • Accountable for first-line R&D support to projects.

  • Involved in all innovation processes within the business line, including budget setting and R&D portfolio management.

3. Project Execution and Delivery Excellence:

  • Accountable for project management (start-up to evaluation) for all projects within the regional business line.

  • Accountable for collecting project receivables.

  • Responsible for best practice rollouts and product implementations.

4. Country Support and Facilitation, Vessel Asset Management and Non-Vessel Asset Management:

  • Responsible for utilization of vessels and other large assets in the region (including allocation of large assets that are managed regionally).

5. Strategy Design and Implementation:

  • Lead the regional business in alignment with the global (business line) strategy "Towards Full Potential."

  • Drive strategic initiatives to enhance business performance and achieve long-term goals.

  • Collaborate with the Regional Leadership Team to ensure cohesive strategy execution and alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Collaborate with the Regional Transformation Leader in all related transformation programs in Asia Pacific.

  • Ensure an effective and agile organizational structure to drive our regional MSC strategy forward

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to maintain competitive advantage.

6. Team leadership & Development:

  • Be a role model for our Safety Culture, meeting and/or exceeding all targets

  • Lead organizational change in the MSC organization, evaluating talent, leveraging strengths and planning for gaps where needed – ensure robust roles and responsibilities and engagement plans.

  • Coach team members for performance and development, unlocking their potential.

  • Role model our Fugro Leadership Model behaviors and provide clear behavioral expectations to team members.

Candidate Profile

Drawing from a strategic mindset, inspirational leadership and hands‑on approach, the ideal candidate will have a successful record of accomplishing business and financial results, driving innovation, and leading an organization through transformation and change.

Job Requirements
  • A Master's degree, preferably in a Business or Technical discipline

  • 10+ years of multinational business experience and P&L ownership in the Marine industry, in roles of progressive leadership experience, with strength in financial management, key client relationships, operational excellence, introducing and elevating innovation as well as successfully driving transformation and change.

  • Experience leading through influence in a team or being a member of a matrixed, globally based organization with proven success working across multiple time zones and diverse cultures.

  • Experience building, implementing, and leading transformation within a business.

  • Proven success building, leading and growing one’s own team and upgrading talent in the wider organization

  • Effective communication

  • Ability to do strategic and innovative thinking, program development and execution.

  • Ability to work effectively with senior management as well as all levels in the organization.

  • Must be able to travel primarily regionally and occasionally globally, up to 30%.
