Job summary

A leading transportation company in Singapore is seeking a qualified individual for an Operations Control Room role. The ideal candidate will have a Higher NITEC and at least 3 years of experience in operations. Duties include ensuring train punctuality, managing service disruptions, coordinating recovery actions, and mentoring new staff. The position requires shift work, including nights and weekends, with an emphasis on maintaining operational documents and reports.

Responsibilities

• Ensure punctuality on train launching/withdrawing according to the timetable.
• Make necessary adjustments to minimize service disruption.
• Inform duty Chief Controller of failures/incidents that may cause delays.
• Coordinate recovery actions within the depot.
• Manage personnel and track access during maintenance works.
• Deploy Customer Service Officers/drivers as per duty roster.
• Notify Duty Maintenance Controllers of any faults encountered.
• Maintain documentation for all activities within the depot.
• Produce daily operations reports during duty shifts.
• Mentor new staff undergoing on-the-job training.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Ensure punctuality on train launching/withdrawing, including both passenger trains and Engineer’s trains, as according to the train working timetable and/or published Traffic Bulletin

• Make necessary adjustments to cope with the demands, and to provide quick recovery action to minimize service disruption in case of failure or under the degraded depot operation.

• Inform duty Chief Controller timely on any failures/incidents in the depot that can cause delays to the launching and withdrawing of train to/from depot, and incident bearing potential safety and service implications.

• Coordinate and mobilize relevant sections of Engineering department on train recovery action within the depot automatic area, including depot reception tracks and to manage shunting movements/train testing within the depot upon request by relevant Engineering departments.

• Manage and control all track access in the depot automatic area, including personnel who requires descending to the tracks for maintenance works or under emergency situation, with application of appropriate protection in accordance with the relevant rules and procedures.

• Deploy Customer Service Officers/drivers in the depot, as per their duty roster and/or according to the operation nee ds.

• Notify Duty Maintenance Controllers/Depot Shift Manager timely for follow-up actions on any faults/defects encountered in the Depot Control Centre, depot trackside or on-board of the trains in the depot.

• Maintain documentation for all train launching/withdrawing activities, shunting movements, train testing and track access within the depot automatic area, including reception tracks.

• Produce operations/management reports/records of depot operation on a daily basis during his/her duty shift.

• Mentor and train new staff who are undergoing on-the-job trainings in the Depot Control Centre.

• Escalate to the proper authority in security/safety related matters.

• Maintain competency through performing Duty Traffic, Station and Maintenance Controller.

• Fulfil ad-hoc taskings assigned by management.

Requirements

• NITEC/ Higher NITEC in any discipline with minimum 3 years' working experience, preferably in an Operations Control Room environment

• Willing to perform shift work, including night shift, weekends and Public Holidays

• Able to operate computer-based control systems
