Job description

The Role we are looking for a highly motivated and hands-on Robotics Intern to join our team at DPV. In this role, you will support the hardware development of our cutting-edge drones. If you love tinkering, building things from scratch, and want to learn how commercial drone hardware comes together, this is the perfect opportunity for you. You will work closely with our lead engineers to assist in designing, assembling, and testing drone components, gaining guided, real-world experience in the fast-paced robotics industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware Assembly & Prototyping: Assist in building, assembling, and testing physical drone prototypes under the guidance of our engineering team.
  • Electronics & Soldering: Help fabricate custom cables, manage wire routing, and solder various hardware components for power and communication systems.
  • 3D Design & Fabrication: Support the mechanical design process by drafting custom parts and mounts using 3D CAD software, and handle the operation of 3D printers for rapid prototyping.
  • Systems Integration: Work alongside lead engineers to connect and configure sensors, motors, and microcontrollers utilizing standard communication protocols (Serial, I2C).
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Participate in hardware debugging, testing structural integrity, and optimizing the overall mechanical and electrical performance of our drones.
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing (or recently graduated with) a degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude—you aren't afraid to get your hands dirty with wires, crimpers, and tools.
  • Basic experience with electronics assembly, cable making, and soldering.
  • Familiarity with hardware-level communication protocols (I2C, Serial/UART).
  • Experience with 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) and a basic understanding of 3D printing.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)While your primary focus will be assisting with hardware, the following software skills will make you a standout candidate:
  • Familiarity with the Robot Operating System (ROS2).
  • Basic programming experience in Python or C++.
  • Previous experience building, repairing, or modifying RC drones, flight controllers, or UAV systems.
What We Offer
  • Real-world, hands-on experience helping build technology that actually flies.
  • Direct mentorship and training from experienced robotics engineers.
  • A collaborative and innovative startup environment where you can learn and grow your technical skillset.
