Job description

Summary
You will play a key role in supporting the transfers of products and technologies by conducting research, performing lab & pilot experiments, and assisting in various stages of the product development process that is applicable to Asia Pacific. You will collaborate on the installation of new equipment and the improvement of the existing equipment in the lab and/or pilot.

Job Scope

  • Manage product transfers from HQ to Singapore, ensuring process validation and successful industrialization.
  • Lead the lab & pilot-scale trials using equipment such as reactors, columns, condensers, mixers, vacuum systems, and filter units.
  • Design, conduct laboratory/pilot trials and analysis to support global scale-up protocols, evaluate process modifications, qualify new raw materials, and assess new process technologies.
  • Maintain laboratory & pilot equipment, supplies, perform analytical analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and analyze stability data from lab and pilot batches to support commercialization decisions.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives in collaboration with Production, Quality, and R&D teams.
  • Design and conduct experiments aimed at minimizing production downtime, enhancing product quality, and reducing manufacturing costs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions during scale-up or routine manufacturing.
  • Participate in non-conformity issues by finding/providing technical solutions.
  • Oversee installation, validation, and operation of lab equipment; develop related SOPs.
  • Support method development and validation with HQ R&D team; lead method transfers and training to contract manufacturer’s QC labs.
  • Train technical staff on new processes and equipment.
  • Evaluate and approve new raw materials in collaboration with global sourcing and regulatory teams.
  • Support formulation adjustments and material substitutions when required.
  • Work closely with global stakeholders (R&D, Regulatory, QA, Production) and Subcontractor.

Job Requirement

  • At least a Master’s and/or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Preferably with technical experience in R&D with oleochemistry background, industrial plant, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and process environment.
  • High proficiency in laboratory equipment not limited to Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR), Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization detector (GC-FID), HPLC/ELSD, Coulometric Karl Fischer Titration, Dropping point and etc.
  • Deep interests in Research Development field & Lab/Pilot Trials.
  • Detailed oriented individual that can take initiatives and adjust priorities.
  • Overseas travelling may required upon business needs.
  • Comfortable to work in Jurong Island (shuttle service provided).
