Job summary

Applied Materials Singapore invites a Quality Engineer to oversee FEOL manufacturing quality, embed quality into production, and drive continuous improvements across processes with KPIs and risk-based approaches.

You will partner with Manufacturing and Engineering, apply Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control, and travel on short notice to sites as needed. A Bachelor's degree and 5–10 years in high-volume manufacturing quality control are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing quality control.
• FEOL optics or semiconductor fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Develop and strengthen quality assurance systems to improve product quality and process capability.
• Establish quality objectives, monitor KPIs, and drive improvements in quality and defect reduction.

• Govern quality risks through PFMEA, Control Plans, and change management.
• Ensure investigation and mitigation of non-conformities and quality issues.
• Lead recurrence prevention and risk reduction across operations.
• Apply statistical methods to interpret data, identify trends, and drive yield improvements.
• Travel on short notice when required.

Quality Engineer - FEOL

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Develop and strengthen quality assurance systems that improve product quality, process capability and manufacturing consistency.
• Establish quality objectives, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive sustainable improvements in customer quality, defect reduction and process performance.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to embed quality into production processes and new technology implementation.
• Foster a prevention-based quality culture that emphasizes risk anticipation, process capability, operational discipline, and continuous learning.
• Govern manufacturing quality risk through PFMEA, Control Plans, change management, MRB, Process Change Notification (PCN), and robust quality review processes.
• Ensure quality risks, non-conformities, and systemic quality issues are proactively identified, investigated, mitigated, and monitored.
• Drive sustainable recurrence prevention and risk reduction across operations.
• Strong analytical skills and statistical methods (like Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments) to interpret large volumes of data, identify trends, drive yield/performance issues, implement mitigation plans.
• Work closely with process / integration/ reliability team; internal/external customers to ensure seamless integration, address issues, and meet product specifications and quality standards.
• Able to travel on short notice when required.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Work experience of at least 5 years. Proven experience (>3 years) in in-process quality control of high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of nanotechnology processes, including lithography, etch, deposition and metrology.
• Proficient in statistical data analysis and process optimization and control techniques (e.g. Design of Experiments, SPC, JMP).

Functional Knowledge

• Experience in FEOL optics or semiconductor fabrication preferred
• Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline or field
