Job summary

Smith in Singapore seeks a QC Specialist - Counterfeit Detection to join a high‑volume laboratory. You will prepare testing methods, perform visual inspections of electronic components, and use microscopy and XRF to confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications.

The role requires documenting results in our system, preparing timely test reports, and ensuring testing aligns with industry standards and customer plans, while supporting ISO17025 compliance and coordinating with external labs

Qualifications

• Experience in counterfeit detection or component inspection.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of electronics distribution is helpful.
• Knowledge of ESD controls / ISO17025 lab systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare testing method related work instructions in the laboratory.

• Conduct alcohol swipe and scrape tests to verify absence of black-topped surfaces.
• Identify red flags indicating suspect parts.
• Operate and maintain analytical instruments (XRF, X‑RAY, Microscopy, Decapsulation, Solderability, Curve Tracing, C‑SAM).
• Coordinate with third-party calibration/test houses for equipment calibration and testing.

Job Description

• Prepare testing method related work instructions in the laboratory.
• Perform visual inspection on electronic components.
• Use various microscopic equipment and the naked eye to ensure the component matches manufacturer specifications and is free of damage.
• Use alcohol swipe and scrape test to verify product has not been black‑topped.
• Determine if there are “red flags” that indicate a possible suspect part.
• Operate and maintain analytical instruments, performing tests in a laboratory such as XRF, X‑RAY, Microscopy, Decapsulation, Solderability, Curve Tracing, and C‑SAM.
• Communicate/coordinate with 3rd‑party calibration/test houses to address equipment calibration, maintenance, and additional customer testing.

Requirements

• Support laboratory on tasks/processes related to ISO 17025 lab system and customer audits.
• Utilize our proprietary system to complete, in detail, the component inspection process and upload any documentation, including but not limited to test results.
• Prepare test reports in a timely manner and ensure tests are performed in accordance with industrial standards and customer‑specified testing plans.
• Communicate with appropriate individuals when discrepancies arise.
• Monitor laboratory operation and test turnaround time.
• Report any abnormal incidents to the management team.

Competencies

• 3+ years of component or product inspection, testing, or counterfeit detection experience.
• Solid written and oral communication skills a must.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced lab environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Multitasking and organization skills required.
• Knowledge of the electronics distribution field is helpful.
• Knowledge of ESD controls/ISO 17025 lab system is a plus.
