Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Source and evaluate suppliers for marine equipment, spare parts, fuel, and other operational needs.
- To obtain quotations from international and local suppliers and update price and availability information into the purchasing system.
- Liaise closely with technical superintendents on the selection of a supplier for orders.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement and contract renewals.
- Maintain purchasing database in procurement module of Planned Maintenance System up to date at all time.
- Coordinate and cooperate with customs broker and local logistic companies on all aspects.
- Engage in arrangement and tracking of transportation of spares and stores to and from the Vessel to ensure smooth operation, keep the vessel informed on delivery dates for urgent and critical orders.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to forecast procurement budgets and track expenditures.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team.
- Monitor and follow up on all IHM requirements
- Assist in maintaining the minimum critical spares on board each vessel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or related field.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement in the shipping or maritime industry.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with maritime regulations and procurement systems (e.g. TM Master).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
