We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Executive to manage procurement activities for raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies essential for flavour manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong supplier management skills, experience in the food ingredients or chemicals sector, and a solid understanding of sourcing strategies, cost control, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and indirect materials to support production needs.
- Operational procurement: ensure stability of supply to fulfil operations and business needs
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, delivery, and inventory levels.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure best value and continuity of supply.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both local and overseas suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and material availability to mitigate supply risks.
- Coordinate with R&D, QA, and production teams to ensure materials meet quality and regulatory requirements (e.g., FSSC 22000, Halal, Kosher, etc.).
- Assist in cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement of procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations (e.g., SFA, NEA, CNB, SCDF).
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field.
- 2–5 years’ experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in the food, flavour, or chemical manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with raw material sourcing, vendor management, and import/export documentation.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Knowledge of Singapore food safety regulations and international trade compliance is a plus.
- Meticulous, organized, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Exposure to Halal/Kosher compliance, sustainability sourcing, and green procurement practices.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); Mandarin or other regional languages is an advantage for liaising with overseas suppliers.
