Job summary

A leading engineering company in Singapore is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to manage purchases, maintain records, and liaise with suppliers. Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of experience in the construction sector, possess relevant educational qualifications, and be fluent in Mandarin. This role involves negotiating with vendors and overseeing inventory processes.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years relevant experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Ability to source, select, and manage vendors for both local and overseas purchases.
  • Fluent in Mandarin to communicate with Mandarin-speaking supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper records and data entry.
  • In charge of purchasing electrical lighting components.
  • Process purchase orders and compile quotations.
  • Source for suppliers and negotiate for the best price.
  • Liaise with site supervisors and internal suppliers.
  • Match purchase orders with delivery orders.
  • Monitor inventory status.
  • Follow up on orders to expedite deliveries.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Procurement Manager.

Overview

Purchasing Assistant (Fresh Level)

Location: Ubi Avenue, East

Responsibilities
  • Data entry and maintain proper records
  • In charge of purchasing electrical lighting component
  • Process purchase orders and compile quotations
  • Source for supplier and negotiate for best price
  • Liaise with site supervisors and internal suppliers
  • Matching PO/DO
  • Take charge of daily purchases and overseeing the receiving section and the main store.
  • Monitoring of statistical data on inventory status
  • Follow up on orders to expedite deliveries
  • Maintenance of purchase order files, invoices, and related purchasing records
  • Coordinates the preparation of purchase orders based on approved requisitions
  • Ensures the processing of appropriate communications with vendors regarding the ingredients requirement and quality issues
  • Ensures the verification of invoices against original orders to ascertain compliance with all the conditions of purchase prior to payment
  • Provide general administrative support to Procurement Manager
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • With 1–2 yrs relevant experience in construction industry prefers
  • With GCE ‘O’ level or Diploma qualification
  • PC literate, well organized and self-motivated
  • Able to source, select and manage vendor for both in Singapore and overseas purchase
  • Good interpersonal skills dealing with suppliers and vendor
  • We seek Mandarin-speaking candidates who are required to serve Mandarin-speaking site supervisor
