Talk of the Town is a boutique sports and lifestyle communications agency based in Singapore, with a strong focus on Asia‑Pacific markets. We specialise in delivering strategic, culturally relevant PR and marketing campaigns for global sporting events, teams, and lifestyle brands.
Since our inception in late 2022, we’ve led successful campaigns for high‑profile events, including the HSBC Women’s World Championship, LIV Golf Singapore, the FIDE World Chess Championship, the Singapore Badminton Open, and numerous other events.
Role Description
We are looking for an experienced and highly driven (Senior) Public Relations Manager with a strong passion for sports, major events, and strategic communications to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, is hands‑on during event weeks, and enjoys working across multiple high‑profile sports and lifestyle projects in Singapore.
The (Senior) PR Manager will work closely with the Managing Director to lead, develop, and execute integrated PR strategies, manage media relations, oversee content development, and drive multi‑channel campaigns. You will also play a key role in managing client relationships and leading onsite communications operations across several major sporting events throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership
- Lead and/or support the development and execution of PR strategies and communication plans across multiple sports and lifestyle projects.
- Manage client accounts, including strategic counsel, planning, deliverables, and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media, partners, influencers, and key stakeholders.
- Identify PR opportunities, angles, and storylines to enhance client and event visibility.
Media & Communications
- Lead the creation of press releases, media advisories, speeches, talking points, and key communications materials.
- Oversee media pitching, media engagement, and interview coordination.
- Monitor media coverage, analyse performance, and present insights and recommendations.
Social & Content (where applicable, but not a main focus of the business)
- Oversee social media strategy and content direction across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn).
- Guide content calendars, campaign rollouts, and social storytelling in alignment with brand and event objectives.
Event Communications
- Lead all media and communications operations onsite during major sporting events, including mixed zone management, photocalls, media days, onsite interviews, and content capture.
- Coordinate with event organisers, sponsors, and partners to ensure seamless PR delivery.
Team & Operations
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and interns.
- Support agency workflow, internal operations, and contribute to new business proposals where needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience, ideally in sports PR, agencies, or event‑based communications.
- Strong media network in Singapore (sports, lifestyle, and news) is highly advantageous.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience leading teams, managing clients, and owning campaign delivery.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and think strategically.
- Comfortable with on‑ground, hands‑on work during event weeks.
- A passion for sports and familiarity with the Singapore sports ecosystem are strong pluses.
