Job summary

TikTok Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking a Prompt Writer Specialist for the ModLab AIGC team within Trust & Safety.

You will design and refine prompts to enhance AI model performance and review and label text, images, videos, and ads to improve moderation systems across TikTok products. The role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to make consistent decisions in a fast-paced environment, with collaboration across Product, Engineering, Policy, and Data

Responsibilities

• Prompt Engineering: Align model outputs with policies via prompt engineering, mastering TikTok Ad Policies, translating policy knowledge into prompts.
• Create and iterate prompts by translating policy knowledge into structured prompt components.
• Perform root-cause analysis to identify issues and plan prompt iterations.
• Maintain documentation of prompt engineering processes, variations, test results, and changes.
• Analyze large datasets, interpret model outputs, and derive actionable insights to improve prompt performance.
• Content Moderation & Labeling: Label and categorize content (text, images, video, multimedia) according to taxonomy standards and policies.
• Produce accurate annotations and datasets to train and evaluate AI models.
• Perform quality reviews to ensure labeling consistency and identify improvement opportunities.
• Escalate ambiguous cases and participate in policy clarity discussions.
• Participate in calibration sessions to maintain consistency across reviewers.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, Engineering, Policy, Quality Assurance, Data Science, and Operations.
• Stay updated with evolving moderation policies and ensure consistent application.

About the Team The ModLab AIGC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content) Team is part of the Monetization Integrity Operations organization within Trust & Safety. Our team specializes in reviewing, labeling, and evaluating content that powers the next generation of AI moderation systems.

By producing high-quality datasets and identifying emerging content trends, we help improve machine learning models, strengthen moderation accuracy, refine policies, and support safer advertising experiences across TikTok's products. We work closely with cross-functional partners including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Policy, Quality, and Machine Learning teams to ensure AI systems continue to evolve responsibly while balancing user safety and business growth. --- About the Role

This role combines prompt engineering expertise with deep content moderation and labeling knowledge. Prompt Writers must understand policies and labeling workflows inside-out to effectively troubleshoot, iterate, and optimize AI prompts. As a Prompt Writer Specialist, you will play a crucial role in designing and refining prompts to enhance the performance of AI models.

You will also review and label text, images, videos, advertisements, and other content to improve TikTok's AI-powered moderation systems. Your work will directly contribute to the development of machine learning models that detect policy-violating content, improve moderation accuracy, and support product innovation across multiple business lines. By aligning model outputs with policies through prompt engineering, you'll help ensure that AI systems understand and moderate online content responsibly.

Be Doing Prompt Engineering

• Align model outputs with policies via prompt engineering, including mastering TikTok Ad Policies and translating policy knowledge into written definitions, explanations, and prompt instructions.
• Create and iterate prompts by translating policy knowledge and labeling standards into structured prompt components.
• Perform logical breakdown and evaluation of prompts via root-cause analysis to identify issues and strategize prompt reiteration.
• Maintain detailed documentation of prompt engineering processes, including prompt variations, test results, and iterative changes.
• Analyze large datasets, interpret model outputs, and derive actionable insights to continuously improve prompt performance.

Content Moderation & Labeling

• Label and categorize content (text, images, video, multimedia) according to established taxonomy standards and moderation policies.
• Produce accurate annotations and datasets that help train, evaluate, and improve AI and machine learning models.
• Perform quality reviews to ensure labeling consistency and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Escalate ambiguous or complex cases appropriately and participate in discussions to improve policy clarity.
• Participate in calibration sessions to maintain consistency across reviewers and prompt iterations.
• Identify emerging content trends and provide structured feedback to improve moderation guidelines, workflows, and AI models.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Policy, Quality Assurance, Data Science, and Operations to improve moderation effectiveness and prompt accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in content moderation, Trust & Safety, content review, or data labeling operations within a technology company (e.g., social media, AI, e-commerce, search, or online platforms).
• Experience reviewing content (AIGC), including text, images, videos, or synthetic media.
• Experience in prompt engineering, natural language processing, or AI model evaluation.
• Experience in quality assurance, auditing, or content quality review.
• Familiarity with interpreting and applying content moderation or advertising policies.
• Experience participating in calibration sessions or maintaining annotation quality and consistency.
• Experience with documentation of processes, test results, and iterative improvements.
