Summary
- The Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting all process engineering activities related to the Wellhead Platform (WHP). This includes finalizing the design and implementing the latest modifications arising from Client requirements and discussions, covering areas such as firewater demand, open drain flow and overboard discharge control, and gas venting flow measurement. The engineer will ensure consistency between the WHP and the FPSO in systems such as drainage, venting, firewater, water discharge to sea, isolation, and metering, while providing justifications where deviations occur.
- The role also involves close coordination with other engineering disciplines (E&I and Technical Safety) and supporting detailed process engineering reviews of vendor documentation from Contractors supplying key systems, such as the Integrated Process Module and the Wellhead Control Panel for hydraulic supply. In addition, the Process Engineer will liaise with Regulatory Compliance specialists to ensure full adherence to applicable regulations and documentation requirements under Brazilian standards.
Responsibilities
Venting
- Review gas dispersion study from MAREX and finalize the cold vent location, ensure update of Hazardous area drawings accordingly.
- Follow up with FPSO E&I lead on purchase of cold vent gas flowmeter and interface with contractor to integrate into the 3D model.
- Find a suitable location for sump tank vents and chemical tank vents.
- Update the venting philosophy (WHP Venting and Drainage Philosophy).
Open drain
- Integrate new requirement for inline Oil in Water Analyzer & flowmeter on overboard discharge water line.
- Review the sump tank water outlet design to ensure proper function of the OiW analyser:
- Consider recirculation (via new pump) to ensure permanent flow through the OiW analyser even when no drain received in the tank
- Consider new on/off valves for water discharge for on-spec & off-spec water and re‑route the offspec water to the export production (via new pump) or to new off-spec water tank
- Finalize the open drain tank size to comply with new open drain flowrates (due to significant increase of Wellbay drainage surface), coordinate with contractor to maximize sump tank size (and update oily water open drain pump flow/head if required).
- Review contractor drainage calculations before submission to verify the existing open drain system on the rig is suitable and verify the new open drain system (dedicated to WHP new equipment) is suitable.
- Update the drainage philosophy (WHP Venting and Drainage Philosophy)
- Coordinate with E&I Lead on purchase of the OiW analyser and water discharge flowmeter
FireWater
- Review hydraulic calculation from contractor before submission to verify the existing Fire Water ring and lines installed on the rig is suitable and verify the new FW system (dedicated to WHP new equipment) is suitable. These hydraulic calculations (and FW demand calculations) are also used to feed the FW main pumps datasheet in terms of required head.
- Finalize jockey pumps design (shall be installed in raw water tank to flush FW deluge nozzles with fresh water after routine test of FW pumps with seawater, with alternative tie‑in to the rig seawater system in case the raw water tank is empty), location, and support tendering phase with technical clarifications.
- Support the design of caissons for main FW pumps, size the FW PSVs and self‑regulating control valves.
- Review P&IDs.
- Coordinate with contractor for new FW requirements on their skids: spray of closed drain pumps & spray of chemical injection pumps & deluge on chemical tanks.
Contractor Follow‑up
- Review documentation: datasheets, calculation notes, GAs, 3D model, PSV sizing, P&IDs, etc.
Others
- HAZOP/HAZID action list closure (open drain system will need a HAZOP MOC to be organized once new system is sized, coordinate with contractor)
- P&IDs update
- Issue the line list for all interconnecting piping (outside of contractor battery limit) + MTO
- Update the C&E matrix, issue the trips & Alarms set point list
- Issue the MTO for interconnecting tubings (outside of contractor battery limits)
- Issue the datasheet for CO2 snuffing package and support the tendering phase with technical clarifications
- Support tender for wells production choke valves procurement with technical clarifications
Requirements

- Experience supporting Wellhead Platform, FPSO, or EPCI projects is an advantage.
- Good understanding of engineering documents including P&IDs, datasheets, vendor documents, drawings, etc.
- Strong knowledge of interface management and coordination skill among project team involving multiple disciplines.
- Strong communication skills, able to perform effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines.
