Job summary

Direct Search Global in Singapore is seeking an experienced Project Manager for Ship Repair to lead ship repair and maintenance projects from planning through handover.

The successful candidate will coordinate shipyards, owners, managers and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ship repair, shipyard, marine engineering, vessel maintenance or offshore projects.
  • Proven experience managing ship repair or dry-docking projects from start to completion.
  • Strong understanding of ship repair activities including mechanical, piping, structural, electrical and machinery overhaul.
  • Experience coordinating shipyards, shipowners, ship managers, subcontractors and marine vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end execution of ship repair projects, from pre-planning and mobilisation through to completion and vessel handover.
  • Coordinate with shipowners, ship managers, vessel Masters, Chief Engineers and shipyard representatives throughout the project.
  • Review vessel repair specifications, scope of work, drawings and technical requirements.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, manpower plans, resources and budgets.
  • Coordinate repair, maintenance, retrofit, modification and installation works onboard vessels.
  • Manage subcontractors, contractors, vendors and service providers to ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular project meetings, progress reviews and coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage project costs, quotations, variations, additional works and commercial matters.
  • Review and approve work scopes, material requirements and manpower deployment.
  • Liaise closely with Engineering, Commercial, Procurement, Workshop and Operations teams.
  • Ensure all works comply with shipyard procedures, class requirements, safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Resolve technical, operational and commercial issues that arise during project execution.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, cost reports and final project documentation.
  • Manage project close-out, documentation, punch-list completion and final vessel handover.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities for repeat business and additional repair works.

Job Summary
