A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee Rig Construction activities. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or equivalent, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in shipyard environments. Responsibilities include managing project schedules, leading teams, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and leadership skills are essential, along with a willingness to work in challenging conditions.
Read and interpret Structural, Piping, HVAC, mechanical electrical drawings
Manage a team of Superintendents, Supervisors, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation
Manage & chair Day to day VSCC (Vessel Safety Coordination Committee Meetings)
Assist in providing cost estimates for labour, supplies, materials and other project costs
Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine budget and timeline
Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
Create schedules for workers and subcontractors
Work closely with commercial team and forecast Subcontractor’s requirements and assign scopes accordingly
Maintain a daily log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary
Make changes in the operation as necessary to best met construction deadlines
Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient
Prepare day to day reports & update project master schedule
Conduct weekly internal production meetings & Weekly client – shipyard interphase meeting
Prepare meeting minutes and disseminate every week to all personals related to the assigned project
Maintain project variation order records, technical query records, Drawing transmittal records and disseminate weekly.
Bachelor’s / diploma in Mechanical or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of working experience in Rig Construction & Shipyard experience
Must possess MWSHSSR (Manage Workplace Safety and Health Ship building and Ship Repair)
Must possess experience of working & managing Jack up rig upgradation / repair assignments in shipyard environment
Excellent English command, including writing, speaking and active listening
Proficient in MS Office applications (ie. Microsoft Excel)
Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices and assist commercial team in preparing quotes.
Good planning skills, including execution, resource allocation and manage contingencies
Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
In-depth understanding of MOM construction regulations
Great problem-solving and decision-making skills
Effective leadership abilities, motivate peers, set targets / goals and conflict management
Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and multitasking
Willing to work in a challenging repair environment
