Job summary

A marine engineering company in Singapore seeks a Project Manager to oversee marine projects and ensure timely delivery. You will manage construction activities, monitor project progress, and maintain stakeholder relationships. Candidates should have a Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture, along with experience in marine production roles. Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and oversee marine projects or production activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Manage day-to-day construction and mechanical works, ensuring alignment with project schedule and undocking timelines.
  • Monitor project or production progress against baseline schedules, manpower plans, and cost targets.
  • Coordinate closely with supervisors, subcontractors, and trades to ensure safe, efficient, and quality execution of works.
  • Conduct VSCC and ensure shipyard safety, cleanliness, and compliance with SOPs and safety standards.
  • Review manpower deployment, productivity, and work performance; identify gaps and improvement areas.
  • Manage changes in work scope, drawings, and specifications, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Oversee cost-to-completion, progress reporting, and forecast resource requirements.
  • Conduct progress and coordination meetings to resolve operational and project issues.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives for new construction and repair works.
  • Support tender preparation, warranty matters, and other ad-hoc project or operational duties when required.
  • Maintain good customer relationships at site and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify training needs and support staff development and upgrading initiatives.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture.
  • Relevant experience in marine newbuild, ship repair, production, or project roles (level adjusted based on experience).
  • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding, repair processes, and yard operations.
  • Familiarity with class and SOLAS requirements is advantageous.
  • Project management knowledge in planning, scheduling, costing, manpower, and risk management.
  • Ship Repair Manager Certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
