PROJECT ENGINEER (PLC/SCADA)
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Project Engineer to manage the maintenance and enhancement of PLC, SCADA, and related automation systems. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing annual maintenance schedules, performing routine servicing, upgrades, and tests, and leading root-cause analysis for system alarms, network faults, and equipment failures. You will coordinate with clients, service providers, and internal teams to ensure service restoration within SLA, while also managing small-scale upgrades from scoping to delivery. This position requires strong technical expertise in SCADA and PLC systems, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to produce high-quality documentation, reports, and recommendations to optimise system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop annual maintenance schedules for servers, workstations, RTUs/PLCs, networks, cybersecurity appliances, and field instrumentation
- Execute and document routine servicing, firmware upgrades, patch management, database backups, and fail-over tests in approved maintenance windows
- Lead root-cause analysis for SCADA alarms, network faults, hardware failures, and telemetry data issues
- Mobilise field teams, liaise with Singtel and other service providers, and restore service within SLA
- Scope, budget, and deliver small-scale upgrades
- Produce method statements, risk assessments, test scripts, and handover packs
- Serve as primary contact for clients, engineers, consultants, Stratus/Kepware/Schneider support, and telecom providers
- Chair weekly maintenance coordination meetings and issue minutes, progress trackers, and service reports
- Analyse failure trends, recommend spares optimisation and lifecycle refresh plans
- Propose automation of health checks, log analytics, and remote diagnostics to reduce meantime-to-repair
Qualifications
- Minimally Diploma in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation or related engineering fields
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in SCADA/PLC/RTU maintenance or automation project delivery, preferably in water or critical infrastructure
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of Wonderware/Aveva System Platform, Kepware OPC, DNP3, Modbus, Stratus ftServer, Cisco/Hirschmann managed switches, and Windows Server administration
- Familiar with CCOP2 cybersecurity guidelines, ISO 27001 controls, and basic networking

- Strong fault-finding skills, ability to interpret wiring diagrams and network topologies
- Excellent coordination, documentation, and client-facing communication abilities
- Willingness to support after-hours maintenance windows and be on 24/7 standby rotation
