Directing the development of strategic delivery plans, influences strategy implementation whilst establishing and managing key stakeholder relationships and influencing the management of resources. Ensuring the achievement of company objectives in accordance with stakeholder requirements, aligned to compliance and regulatory frameworks, ensuring effective commercial business practices and tangible operational productivity and improvement/s.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Directing the coordination and delivery of a major project and oversees the implementation of strategies, provides strategic direction and monitors delivery in alignment with overall vision and objectives.

  • Accountable for defining and implementing an appropriate project delivery environment including people, organization, process, information and technology.

  • Responsible for determining and assembling the right project team with the right skills, experience, capabilities and technical competency, including any required external specialist appointments.

  • Responsible for improving performance from the bid baseline by optimizing resources and monitoring, reviewing and evaluating activities, systems and methodologies.

  • Relationship owner and primary contact for executive team engagement. Responsible for ensuring efficient governance to support project activities and gaining organizational support and commitment within the business, ensuring the achievement of strategic priorities.

  • Key client relationship management, interface, communication and constructive challenge, responsible for client relationship management (CRM).

  • Acting as the public face of the programme to external stakeholders, chairing executive steering group meetings.

  • Accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, governance, risk, stakeholder management and programme compliance standards.

  • Focusing on delivering programme benefits and outcomes.

  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of programme documentation, including process and procedures, plans, reports, registers, and lessons learned.

  • Creating and nurturing a high-performing and inclusive team environment that encourages contribution and recognition.

  • Engendering, promoting and influencing quality and service excellence in all conversations and programme interactions.

  • Ensuring the programme is operating an effective risk management strategy with appropriate management actions and risk treatments established.

  • Responsible for conveying and connecting the wider business strategy to the project team and promoting the associated initiatives.

  • Actively networks and utilizes the full depth and knowledge of the business and Mace centres of excellence to support programme delivery. Actively promotes knowledge share with others.

  • Ensuring operations are commercially and ethically viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives (including debt collection) and meeting organizational and regulatory compliance obligations. Building and maintaining internal and external relationships (e.g. clients, contractors, consultancies and other stakeholders) to foster growth and increase networks.

  • Providing thought leadership and expertise in project management and execution.

  • Promoting Mace's value of safety first, exhibiting visible safety behaviors, sharing lessons learned and using safety moments, safety tours and Mace's HSW framework, supports the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff.

  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience and track-record for delivering major new build construction projects.

  • Advanced technical understanding of project management practices, controls, governance and procedures.

  • Full budgetary oversight both external project budget and internal fee budget.

  • Advanced risk and opportunity management/practitioner.

  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills across estimating, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, financial controls and reporting, across the project lifecycle.

  • Contract literate to a good standard.

  • Performance management to ensure a high-performance culture is maintained.

  • Industry body practitioner/contributor/mentor e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE, APM, MSP.

  • Contract literate to a good standard.

  • Extensive sector and/or market-specific experience, knowledge and contacts.

  • Extensive experience in successful delivery of major projects, through all phases.

  • Leadership and management experience and capability to lead a large team.

  • Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable level of role knowledge, (or equivalent).

  • Appropriate professional organization membership such as MAPM/MRICS/MICE/CIOB.
