We are seeking a Project Cable Technician for a short-term work project.
General Work Description
- Perform termination and testing of new UTP network cables (if required)
- Lay and organise network cables neatly within and between racks
- Label and tag both ends of each network cable according to the provided rack and network diagrams
- Dress and secure cables using Velcro cable ties, cable managers, and trays
- Ensure proper cable management for optimal rack hygiene, airflow, and serviceability
- Prepare documentation and update the rack/network cabling layout diagram
- Remain on standby during the data center migration (1 day) for cabling-related troubleshooting
- Remove and dispose of all old network and power cables (if any) from the old data center
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a commercial data center or NOC performing structured cabling work
- Proven experience in structured cabling installation
- Familiar with proper cable management practices (Velcro ties, cable trays, patch panels, labeling)
- Knowledge of labeling standards and safe handling around live equipment
- Familiarity with commercial building telecommunications cabling standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568) is an advantage
- Ability to use RJ45 crimping tools and perform UTP terminations if required
- Candidates must provide examples of past structured cabling work in commercial data centers (state DC locations and project details)
