Job summary

A global life sciences company in Singapore is seeking a knowledgeable Project Buyer to manage procurement processes and support R&D projects. You will be responsible for handling purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and managing vendor interactions, ensuring timely material supply. The ideal candidate should have a degree in engineering or business and 3 to 5 years of experience in a high-tech environment. Project Buyer (1‑Year Contract)

is responsible for handling purchase orders, controlling procurement costs, coordinating and expediting deliveries to meet project timelines, and handling all related documentation.

This position reports to the Assistant Manager, Project Buyer and is part of the Singapore R&D team located in One North Coast, Singapore and will be an on‑site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Act as the primary contact for strategic and tactical procurement activities across sustaining and NPI projects, including sourcing, quotation evaluation, tendering, indirect purchasing, and full product lifecycle support.

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies, manage long‑lead items and risk buys, track orders and delivery status, ensure timely material supply for builds, and support transitions to manufacturing in Singapore.

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, sourcing teams, production buyers, QC, receiving, stores, and finance. Coordinate supplier identification and selection, manage vendor interactions, and maintain alignment across project teams.

  • Review COs (engineering changes) for sourcing feasibility, resolve cost/delivery/quality issues, handle invoice discrepancies and spend reporting, manage excess materials, and ensure accurate part, pricing, and standard cost setup.

  • Maintain ISO documentation and follow EHS and internal safety requirements while supporting materials planning, inventory tracking, and other operational or ad‑hoc tasks as needed.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Degree or Diploma in a related field (engineering or business)

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of planning/purchasing experience in a high‑tech environment (electronics, aerospace, automotive, manufacturing industries)

  • Excel proficiency level (minimum): Intermediate – must know lookup, logical as well as conditional functions. Must also know how to use pivotable, conditional formatting and data validation.

  • Experience in Oracle’s purchasing module or equivalent.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Sourcing product development and complex designs.

  • Basic understanding of engineering documents.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
