Programme Description
Overview of Young Hearts

The Young Hearts (YH) Programme aims to give children and youth from vulnerable and challenging backgrounds a leg-up in life. Working to address issues surrounding intergenerational poverty and socio-educational disparity, our goal is to develop them into socially-responsible citizens via three key elements: Education Enrichment, and Excursions. As we move towards a greater focus on the mental well-being and socio-emotional development of these young persons, Young Hearts’ strives to provide safe, nurturing and engaging spaces where children are seen, heard and empowered to be changemakers in community.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

The Children and Youth Programme Coordinator provides operational support to daily Young Hearts operations and builds rapport with children and youth through consistent presence and informal guidance. They create opportunities for light-touch mentoring and help foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment.

The incumbent must be willing to engage the communities meaningfully on weeknights (and weekends when necessary).

Working Hours

Mondays - Thursdays: 1pm - 10pm

Fridays: 9am - 6pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain centre readiness for daily activities, including logistics, safety, and meal distribution.
  • Support the smooth delivery of tuition, enrichment, excursions and other activities.
  • Maintain good and supportive relationships with tutors and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate programme records, including attendance, events and incident reports.
  • Maintain good relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Student Engagement
  • Provide safe and nurturing spaces for children and youth through consistent presence and active listening; ready to offer encouragement and guidance regularly and leverage on situations to create learning and growth opportunities.
  • Provide positive role modeling to children and youth at all times and through organised activities.
  • Support events management, logistics planning, outreach activities and partnerships.
Administrative
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of the programme operations, including but not limited to enrolment forms, student and volunteer records, minutes and regular reports.
Job Specifications

Qualifications and Experience
  • Familiarity with the educational and mentoring needs of students from disadvantaged or at-risk backgrounds is an advantage.
  • Experience in the Social Service Sector.
  • Familiarity with IT tools like MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace is required. Familiarity with student performance tracking systems and academic monitoring tools is an added advantage.
