Job summary

A leading OEM food manufacturing company in Singapore seeks a proactive Purchaser who is bilingual in English and Mandarin. Responsibilities include sourcing ingredients and materials from China, managing supplier communications, and ensuring compliance with food safety audits. The role requires at least one month of in-person training in Singapore before transitioning to a remote work arrangement. Ideal candidates will have strong online sourcing skills and a solid understanding of food costing.

Qualifications

• Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and English.
• Strong online sourcing skills (e.g. Alibaba, 1688, Taobao).
• Solid understanding of food cost analysis or ingredient costing.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase ingredients, materials, and equipment from China.
• Communicate with overseas suppliers and local partners.
• Coordinate and track shipments for timely delivery.
• Assist in food costing and supplier communication.
• Maintain purchasing records and supplier databases.

Job description

Simple Food Solutions Pte Ltd is a leading OEM food manufacturing company committed to delivering high-quality food products to our clients. We’re hiring a Purchaser who is proactive, detail-oriented, and bilingual in English and Mandarin. If you're experienced in sourcing from China, good with numbers, and can move fast, we’d love to work with you.

This is a remote position, but you’ll be required to attend on-site training for at least 1 month during the first month.

🔍 Key Responsibilities:

• Source and purchase ingredients, materials, and equipment – especially from China-based platforms/suppliers
• Communicate clearly and promptly with overseas suppliers (in Mandarin Chinese) and local partners (in English)
• Coordinate and track shipments, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency
• Support the internal team with food costing – assist in getting quotes and compiling cost breakdowns
• Ensure high responsiveness to costing requests and supplier communications
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and update supplier databases
• Support food safety audits (FSSC 22000, Halal) and ensure regulatory compliance

✅ Requirements:

• Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and English
• Strong online sourcing skills (e.g. Alibaba, 1688, Taobao, WeChat suppliers)
• Solid understanding of food cost analysis or ingredient costing
• Proactive and responsive – able to turn around supplier quotes quickly
• Prior F&B procurement experience is a bonus
• Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets)
• Self-driven and able to work independently from home

• At least 1 month of in-person training required in the first month (Location: Singapore)
• Work-from-home after training
