Procurement Engineer (Tuas, up to $6300)

Location: Tuas with pick up points provided

Salary: up to $6,300 with AWS + Bonus

Job Summary

This position will apply their expertise to maintain an efficient procurement system, ensuring procured items meet specifications, quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules. Key responsibilities include collaborating with all functional teams to meet needs and develop procurement strategies, conduct supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and drive cost savings initiatives. This position must have technical acumen and commercial negotiation skills to optimize supply chain efficiency and reduce risk to support the organization.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations. Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
  • Manage the day-to-day procurement activities, engagement with stakeholders to ensure materials and/or services needed for business success.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for procurement management and operations process including procurement information flow – supplier information maintenance, items suppliers’ connection, supplier agreements and supplier basic data like company information, MOQ, order multiple, responsible personnel, etc.
  • Proactive in working with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, forecast accuracy, identify potential cost reductions, new programs and improvement opportunities, or mitigate the risk.
  • Create and review opportunities on alternative materials and suppliers to meet the business unit objectives in procurement activities and deliver the best values and business savings. Develop strong partnership with suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers, provide analysis on costs, and review costs to achieve savings. Establish r/s with suppliers to leverage the needs in terms of tight supply situation as well as to be ahead of the market requirement.
  • Collaborate with technology to understand company needs as well as working with existing/new suppliers to determine company strategic alignment.
  • Contribute and communicate the impact on procurement activities to stakeholders when situations arise such as trends of raw material/feedstock, market change and potential effects on supply. Participate in Sales & Operations Planning meetings to update the information.
  • Contribute and communicate the impact on procurement activities to new business initiatives and projects.
  • Involve in global procurement project activities to maintain global–regional alignment.
  • Develop and maintain reports or dashboards to support procurement performance monitoring. Analyze procurement spend data to identify trends and variances.
  • Develop and implement a strategic sourcing plan to meet business needs. Communicate and update the plan regularly based on market trends, supplier capabilities and business priorities.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to review repetitive/critical supplier corrective actions and develop an annual supplier audit program where applicable.
  • Regularly review and monitor supplier performance (quality and delivery performance, supplier approval records and qualifications).
  • Contribute and participate in supplier audits when required. Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with ISO procedures.

Requirements:

  • 2 – 5+ years of experience in procurement, project-based procurement or supply chain roles. Tech-savvy with experience in computer skills, digital procurement processes and data analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of technical specifications, and material standards. Knowledge of procurement software and ERP systems. Knowledge of contract management, and international procurement regulations.
  • Good negotiation and communication skills. Understanding of cost analysis and strategic sourcing.
