Job responsibilities
Product Specification & Technical Support
- Work with internal teams to define and document technical specifications and performance requirements.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, BOMs, and specification sheets for supplier implementation.
- Provide technical input during the design or modification of products to ensure manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
Supplier Sourcing & Qualification
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend suppliers based on their technical capabilities, quality systems, and process reliability.
- Conduct technical assessments, factory evaluations, and sample reviews in collaboration with the QC team.
- Ensure suppliers comply with internal quality standards and applicable industry certifications.
Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Analyze cost structures and drive value engineering initiatives to improve product competitiveness.
- Benchmark components and materials to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Propose technical alternatives that maintain function while reducing cost.
Project & Procurement Coordination
- Support purchasers in the sourcing of components and materials based on approved specifications.
- Coordinate first article/sample submission and validation with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor project sourcing timelines and ensure technical readiness for mass production.
Quality Improvement & Issue Resolution
- Partner with QC to analyze and address recurring quality issues through root cause investigation and supplier corrective actions.
- Implement improvements in supplier processes or specifications to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Track and document quality improvement progress and revisions to technical documentation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date technical records, supplier qualification documents, and cost databases.
- Prepare sourcing reports, evaluation summaries, and technical justifications for internal review and approval.
Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Product Design, or a related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience in product sourcing and purchasing, preferably in the OEM industry
- Proven track record in product development and managing supplier relationships
- Experience working with third-party vendors and liaising with China suppliers
- Proficient in CAD software and other relevant design tools
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures
