Job summary

A leading materials manufacturing company in Singapore is seeking a Process Technician to oversee operations and maintenance tasks. Candidates should have a NITEC in Chemical Process or equivalent, along with at least 2 years of experience in the chemical industry. Responsibilities include DCS monitoring, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance. A good team player with strong communication skills is preferred, and a forklift license is a plus.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience within Chemical and/or Petrochemical industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up and shut-down according to operating procedures.
  • Monitor and control process variables via DCS.
  • Respond to process alarms and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Perform first line maintenance on equipment.
  • Participate in safety committee and housekeeping activities.

Work Schedule: Permanent 12-hour shift work rotating (8am to 8pm/ 8pm to 8am)

We are hiring for Process Technician and the following is the Job Description:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

DCS Operation
  • Perform starts up and shuts down according to Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions or Checklists
  • Monitor and control process variables via DCS (towers, reactors, driers, compressors, etc) to maintain quality & plant in steady & efficient condition
  • Respond to process alarms, process upsets or abnormal process conditions according to established practices and procedures in order to begin or cease production as advised by Supervisor or Engineers
  • Troubleshoots equipment and/or process problems in order to identify needed corrections or improvements
  • Initiate and perform Safety bypass with approval from Supervisor
Field Operation
  • Performs equipment line-ups and operate towers, reactors, driers, compressors, pumps, etc according to established practices and procedures
  • Responds to upsets or abnormal process conditions according to instructions from Supervisor or Panelman
  • Troubleshoots equipment and/or process problems in order to identify needed corrections or improvements
  • Collect process samples from assigned sampling points in a safe manner
  • Equipment Inspection Tours according to checklist
First Line Maintenance
  • Perform first line maintenance task for equipment size below 4” e.g. cleaning strainers or filters, opening & closing flanges, connecting hoses, tightening packing or flange leaks
Quality Assurance
  • Online (PI system) quality monitoring
  • Reporting deviations to supervisor, investigate process conditions and adjust process variables accordingly
HSE
  • Report all incidents, near misses, deviation from plan promptly to Supervisor
  • Create and issue Safe Work Permits (Part of Work Flow)
  • Isolates all equipment (lock out / tag out) as required, in accordance with established procedures
  • Performs CAR Seal Checks according to annual program
  • Participates as a member of the Initial Response Team during emergencies
  • Prepares equipment for maintenance ensuring all required testing (JSO's) has been performed
  • Performs site verification before accepting & closing off Safe Work Permits
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Programs
Daily Management
  • Performs Shift Handover
  • Attends Daily Tool Box Meeting
  • Conduct proper shift relief and documentation in shift report and shift handover
Materials Management
  • Cover Material Receiver’s role during his absence
Administrative
  • Maintains open and continuous communication and feedback to Supervisor
  • Maintains good housekeeping around work place & plant
  • Participates in safety committee and housekeeping activities as required
  • Accepts on call duty and overtime as required
  • Works as a member of the shift team to achieve measurable performance objectives by understanding and accepting roles and responsibilities within the shift team
  • Willing to work on special projects as needed
EDUCATION/BACKGROUND
  • NITEC in Chemical Process or Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience within Chemical and/or Petrochemical industry
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge in Distributed Control System (DCS) is a plus
