Job description

We are a leading contract electronics manufacturer scaling standardized, high-availability MES capabilities across a multi-country, multi-site network. We’re seeking a Principal MES Engineer to be the technical authority for MES architecture, design, configuration, integration, and rollout—driving process discipline, digital traceability, real-time visibility, and right-first-time execution across high‑mix, high‑volume environments. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader who can set standards, coach site teams, and deliver measurable outcomes at scale. Member of Group Manufacturing Execution System (MES) IT team.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the global MES strategy and roadmap in alignment with business goals, collaborating with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Define and lead MES architecture and end‑to‑end functional design for a multi‑site, multi‑country electronics manufacturing network, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with ISA–95/ISA–88 standards.
• Architect and manage SAP MES integration (PP, QM, WM modules) and connectivity with test systems, quality systems, WMS, and BI/Analytics platforms to ensure seamless data exchange and process synchronization.
• Oversee MES projects from initiation to completion, including scope definition, timeline management, fit‑gap analysis, configuration, testing, pilot deployment, and full‑scale implementation across multiple sites.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point with MES vendors and system integrators; manage backlog, technical debt, and roadmap to ensure system reliability and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and build MES capability within corporate and site teams, providing training, best practices, and technical leadership.
• Ensure MES technical development, certification of hardware, backup strategies, and adherence to IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
• Lead the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of all issues related to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and 5 years of team management.
• Proven track record in MES system development, SAP integration (PP, QM, WM modules), and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on experience working in cross‑functional teams and managing complex, multi‑site projects.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; highly motivated and results driven.
• Excellent coordination and communication abilities, with the capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and ability to deliver on commitments.
• MES Expertise: Deep knowledge of MES platforms, architecture, and standards.
• Knowledge in Production Planning/Capacity Planning/Material Management.
• Knowledge in Work Order Management.
• Knowledge in OEE/SPC/RTY.
• Knowledge in Quality management and traceability requirements.
• Vendor Management.
