A healthcare institution in Singapore is seeking a qualified professional for a role in molecular microbiology diagnostics. The candidate will perform diagnostic tests, manage specimens, ensure quality control, and train staff. A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience in molecular diagnostics are required along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and rotating shifts.
You will perform a wide variety of molecular microbiology diagnostic and research tests on patient specimens and report results of the tests according to established protocols in the Microbiology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), to help clinicians diagnose, treat diseases, and monitor therapy.
You will also be receiving and sorting specimens, assessing suitability of specimens for testing, data entry of test requests, and rejection of specimens that are unsuitable for testing.
You will perform appropriate molecular analysis on specimens using established protocols, and plan, execute and lead laboratory verification or evaluation tests on new assays.
You will participate in quality assurance and quality control programmes in the Microbiology Section and conduct training and mentoring of new and existing staff in molecular microbiology.
You will develop and lead in initiatives to review and improve processes within the Section to achieve organisational goals and support the Section Leader in operational and administrative matters.
You will assist in managing services and resources to achieve department strategic goals and outcome targets.
