Job description

Leads new product development at AEM. Will manage a small, fast-moving team focused on developing disruptive solutions in the semiconductor test equipment industry. Responsibilities will range from leading the team in the definition of system level architectures to hands-on integration and test of designs into new products. Current experience with leading small electrical/FW/SW focused design teams and hands-on design of digital and analog control circuitry is a key part of this role. This role requires the potential candidate to travel to the US frequently to learn from our US technical leaders.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Leads a design team involved in all aspects of the development of electrical hardware, including system architecture, schematic design, component selection, FW/SW design, documentation, initial test and system integration
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of complex engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and effective resource allocation in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, mentoring engineers to develop technical expertise and leadership skills while promoting an inclusive and innovative workplace
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, systems and mechanical engineers to define project requirements, optimize processes, and develop optimum solutions for manufacturability and serviceability
  • Manages and develops analog and digital circuitry design solutions to satisfy new project requirements
  • Manages the development of FPGA firmware to implement closed-loop and system control solutions
  • Supports product integration and customer buy-off at customer sites as required
  • Architect and implement AI/ML-driven feedback or control loops, integrating data from sensors, thermal maps, and system diagnostics to improve real-time response and efficiency.
Job Qualifications
  • >15 years of experience in electrical design including small-signal analog circuitry, uC and/or FGPA based control circuitry
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled modeling, simulation, or predictive control tools to optimize thermal system performance and equipment behaviour.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms, particularly those applied to anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, or process optimization in hardware-centric systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven track record of first-time design success and on-time/on-budget deliveries
  • Working knowledge of common communication protocols, SPI, CAN, RS-485, I2C, 1-Wire, etc.
  • Familiarity with FPGA design processes, Verilog or VHDL
  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Able to maintain a high level of productivity with minimal supervision
  • Able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining quality professional results
  • Effective Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience improving and developing the knowledge & skills of others
Education
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
