Job description
What the role is:

We are seeking a Principal Data Analyst/Data Scientist to join Workforce Singapore (WSG)’s Data Strategy and Analytics Division (DSAD). You will lead our data transformation by combining advanced analytics with predictive modelling and machine learning, shifting from manual processes to scalable, automated insights that enable data-driven decision‑making and culture across the organisation.

What you will be working on:
  • Partner with business teams to understand reporting needs and business challenges, designing and overseeing end-to-end analytical projects that span dashboards, predictive models, and data science products.
  • Apply diverse analytical approaches from business intelligence to advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms, extracting insights that inform operational and strategic decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers and data engineers to deliver data solutions on our Data Platform.
  • Drive innovation by implementing emerging analytics trends and best practices to enhance our capabilities.
  • Promote data literacy and stewardship across the organisation, ensuring data is valued as a strategic asset.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performance analytics team.
What we are looking for:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling, with hands‑on experience in Python, R, SQL, and data visualisation platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience deploying analytical solutions on enterprise data platforms, cloud platforms (AWS), containerisation tools (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines for scalable deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement emerging analytics trends and methodologies, with a track record of innovation in data science applications is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business challenges into analytical solutions and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Aptitudes and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership experience in building and managing high-performance analytics teams, with strong mentoring and team development capabilities.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work across functions (product managers, engineers, business teams) and foster data‑driven culture within the organisation.
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands‑on execution, capable of designing end-to-end analytical projects from conception to deployment.
  • Change management experience, with the ability to navigate complex organisational structures and drive data transformation initiatives.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with demonstrated success in balancing multiple stakeholders needs while maintaining technical excellence.
