Job Responsibilities
Evaluation of Customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs)
- Review customer URS, drawings, 3D models, and components to create assembly machine concepts based on Mikron’s automation platforms.
- Work with Key Account Managers and the Applications Engineering Manager to define customer requirements and sales strategy.
- Provide design‑for‑assembly guidance to improve product manufacturability.
System Concepting and Proposal Preparation
- Develop detailed automation system concepts for assembly processes.
- Collaborate with internal engineering specialists to resolve technical questions and ensure accurate concept development and pricing.
- Create 2D AutoCAD layouts and 3D Inventor models to support the sales and quotation process.
- Specify third‑party equipment and obtain supplier pricing.
- Prepare complete cost estimates as the basis for quotation.
- Build technical PowerPoint presentations and comprehensive proposal documents, including scope, system description, pricing, timeline, and commercial terms.
- Participate in internal review meetings to validate technical content and costing.
Technical Support for Sales
- Maintain regular communication with customers during the proposal phase.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues as needed.
- Present solutions to customers as part of the Sales team.
- Support Key Account Managers during sales calls by providing detailed automation expertise.
Support to Operations
- Handover of the awarded project to Operations during project kick off.
- Act as a consultant throughout the project phase and collect feedback for continuous improvement of quotation accuracy.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain proposal records, key decision points, and milestones.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements within the Applications Engineering department.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience with a mechanical focus.
- Possess strong knowledge in factory automation, preferably in automotive, electronics, and/or medical/pharmaceutical equipment manufacturing.
Skills
- Skill user of AutoCAD and 3D CAD (Inventor preferred; SolidWorks or Creo acceptable), PDM/PLM systems, Salesforce (preferred).
- Customer‑oriented mindset and strong communication skills.
- Good command of MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
