Job description

Postdoctoral and PhD positions in Statistics/Biostatistics at the National University of Singapore

The Biomedical Data Science division in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) led by Prof. Maria De Iorio invites applications for multiple Research Fellow positions in Statistics and a PhD studentship as part of the Singapore International Graduate Award. The division focuses on methodological and computational contributions in Statistics, in particular within the Bayesian framework. The group works in close contact with clinical and biomedical researchers across NUS and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Motivating applications arise from cohort studies such as GUSTO (Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes) and S-PRESTO (Singapore PREconception Study of Long-Term Maternal and Child Outcome), electronic medical records, and the NUS Human Potential Translational Research Programme. Appointments for Research Fellow will be on a 2 or 3 year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications
Applicants for Research Fellow should:
– hold a PhD in Statistics or closely related field (essential)
– possess a good knowledge of Bayesian inference and Bayesian computational tools such as MCMC and SMC (desirable)
– programming skills in R and one of C/C++ or equivalent
– experience of working in a research environment

Candidates without a PhD can apply for the PhD studentship.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Informal enquiries and CVs can be sent to Dr. Willem van den Boom (vandenboom@nus.edu.sg). Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
