Job summary

KOPI RECRUIT PTE. LTD. is looking for an experienced Oracle Platform Operations Engineer in Singapore to provide Day 2 patching and operational support across Oracle middleware, database, OEM, and Pro*C environments.

This role covers CPU/CSPU assessment, validation, and stabilization for PROD, UAT, and DEV environments, with emphasis on minimal downtime. You will lead pre-patch assessments, coordinate deployment windows, perform backups, validate post-patch health, and contribute to incident

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or related field.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle patching and CPUs/CSPUs.
• Familiarity with Oracle Middleware stack (OHS, WebLogic, OEM).

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-patch assessment and risk review for CPUs/CSPUs.
• Plan, schedule, and execute patch deployment with minimal downtime.
• Backups and rollback readiness for Oracle Home and databases.
• Validate post-patch health and perform stabilization support.
• Coordinate with teams for Data Guard and OEM patching.

Job description

1. Overview

We are looking for an experienced Oracle Platform Operations Engineer to provide Day 2 operations and patching support for Oracle middleware, database, OEM, and Pro*C environments. This role will be involved in the assessment, execution, validation, and stabilization of quarterly Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) and monthly Critical Security Patch Updates (CSPUs), covering Production (PROD), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Development (DEV) environments.

The role provides limited Day 2 operational support related to patching activities for:

• Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
• Oracle WebLogic Server (including Oracle Application Development Framework)
• Oracle Forms and Reports
• Oracle Database Enterprise Server with Data Guard
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Oracle Middleware Day 2 Patching and Operations

Covers:

• Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
• Oracle WebLogic Server (including Oracle Application Development Framework)
• Oracle Forms and Reports

Activities:

• Perform pre-patch assessment (compatibility, dependencies, conflicts), review and submit the CPU Assessment Risk Matrix for Fusion Middleware based on published CVEs, and obtain approval before patch deployment
• Monitor, initiate, schedule, and plan patching activities while ensuring compliance with required timelines
• Perform binary staging and preparation
• Perform Oracle Home backups and ensure rollback readiness before execution
• Execute patch deployment with no service downtime for PROD and UAT
• Restart services and perform post-patch validation to confirm availability and functionality
• Provide stabilization support, including issue resolution support

2.2 Oracle Database Day-2 Patching and Operations

Covers:

• Oracle Database Enterprise Server with Data Guard (active/passive)

Activities:

• Perform pre-patch assessment (compatibility, dependencies, conflicts), review and submit the CPU Assessment Risk Matrix for Database based on published CVEs, and obtain approval before patch deployment
• Monitor, initiate, schedule, and plan patching activities while ensuring compliance with required timelines
• Stage database patch binaries and prepare the patching/staging environments
• Perform Oracle Home backups, work with the team to ensure full database backups, and confirm recovery/rollback readiness
• Prepare rollback/recovery plans before database patching, and manage switchover and downtime activities
• Restore database services if services are not started after patching, and follow up with the software principal on resolution
• Patch the passive database node first, followed by switchover and patching of the new passive node in line with the active/passive Data Guard architecture
• Restart services where applicable and validate database health, connectivity, Data Guard health, redo transport, database synchronization, and listener status
• Ensure successful database operations before handover
• Provide stabilization support, including but not limited to issue resolution support

2.3 Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Day-2 Patching and Operations

Covers:

• Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c

Activities:

• Perform pre-patch assessment (compatibility, dependencies, conflicts), review and submit the CPU Assessment Risk Matrix for Oracle Enterprise Manager based on published CVEs, and obtain approval before patch deployment
• Monitor, initiate, schedule, and plan patching activities while ensuring compliance with required timelines
• Stage OEM patch binaries and prepare the patching environments
• Perform Oracle Home and Repository backups, and confirm recovery/rollback readiness
• Prepare rollback/recovery plans before patching
• Restore database services if services are not started after patching, and follow up with the software principal on resolution
• Patch OEM components (OEM Management Servers, Repository database, and monitoring agents)
• Restart services where applicable and validate monitoring/agent communications
• Provide stabilization support, including but not limited to issue resolution support

2.4 Pro*C Day 2 Patching and Operations

Covers:

• Oracle Database Enterprise Server

Activities:

• Perform pre-patch assessment (compatibility, dependencies, conflicts) as part of the Database CPU Assessment Risk Matrix
• Monitor, initiate, schedule, and plan patching activities while ensuring compliance with required timelines
• Stage patch binaries and prepare the patching/staging environments
• Perform Oracle Home backups and confirm recovery/rollback readiness
• Prepare rollback/recovery plans before patching
• Patch the Oracle software
• Validate database connectivity, recompile where required, and validate application integration/runtime behaviour
• Work with the team to ensure batch programs are running
• Provide stabilization support, including but not limited to issue resolution support
