Job summary

The Platform Engineer at Economic Development Board's Information Technology Division will develop, administer, and optimize CI/CD platforms supporting the application development lifecycle. You will collaborate with product teams and Infosec to implement secure, automated pipelines and improve deployment practices.

You will contribute to incident recovery, tooling, and governance, while mentoring teammates and promoting a culture of DevOps excellence in a fast‑paced government tech environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting necessary tools.
• Linux (Redhat/Ubuntu) and Windows familiarity.
• Scripting with Bash and PowerShell; Python optional.
• Version control and CI/CD: GitLab, MS VSTS, Git.
• Playwright for testing and automation.
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) including Helm charts.
• Logging and telemetry with Elastic and OTEL; Kibana for visualization.
• Security tooling: SonarQube, GitLab SEP/PEP.
• IaC with Ansible and Terraform; databases Redis, MSSQL, PostgreSQL.
• Cloud exposure to AWS; networking basics and troubleshooting.
• Agile development; microservices deployment; incident and change management.
• Experience in AI/GenAI tooling for DevOps/AIOps.
• Open source technologies knowledge; strong communication and problem-solving.
• Background in CS/CE preferred; relevant experience considered.
• Certifications in listed tools or DevOps/Agile advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, maintain and improve IT infrastructure and CI/CD platforms used for the application lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Product Team to onboard new products to the platform and improve processes.
• Collaborate with Infosec to implement security best practices across apps, infra and pipelines.
• Collaborate within DevSecOps and with other teams to refine IT infrastructure and processes.
• Own, recover and improve incidents.
• Manage procurement from requirements to award.
• Oversee outsourced implementations by vendors.
• Develop policies and tools for changes to IT infra and CI/CD platforms.
• Share knowledge and promote DevOps culture across the team.
• Manage provisioning of hosting environments via code and automation tools.

What you will be working on:

The Platform Engineer develops, administers, supports, improves and optimises platforms that support the application development lifecycle and has the relevant knowledge and experience in the various automation tools for developing DevSecOps pipeline (CI/CD).

He/She works with developers and Product teams on code releases and support the team by providing recommendations to improve software development & deployment through process re-engineering, scripting & automation.

He/She is curious, has a thirst for continuous learning and is eager to work as part of a team to develop and optimise platforms. He/She is personable and interacts and communicates his/her views to others in the team with ease.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Identify, develop, implement, maintain, administer, support and improve IT infrastructure and CI/CD platform that are used to support application development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the Product Team to onboard new product to the platform and to improve the existing application development process.
• Collaborate with Infosec Team on implementing security best practices on the applications, IT infrastructure and CI/CD platform.
• Collaborate internally within DevSecOps Team as well as with other teams to improve IT infrastructure, CI/CD platform and processes used for application development lifecycle.
• Own, recover and improve from incidents.
• Manage procurement, from issuing requirements until award.
• Manage implementation projects outsourced to external vendors.
• Develop policies, procedures and tools that manage changes to IT infrastructure and CI/CD platform.
• Share the knowledge and know-how to others; work with other team members to adopt and improve DevOps culture.
• Manage and provision hosting environments through code and implement tools to do so.

What we are looking for:

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have/be:

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting the following tools:
• Operating system: Linux (Redhat/Ubuntu) and MS Windows
• Scripting: Bash and PowerShell with python(optional)
• Repository and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery: GitLab, MS VSTS, Git
• Testing tool: Playwright
• Container/Container Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, EKS and Helm Charts
• Logging/Telemetry: Elastic and OTEL
• Visualisations: Kibana
• Security: Sonarqube, Gitlab SEP (Scan Execution Policy) and PEP (Pipeline Execution Policy).
• Infrastructure as Code: Ansible, Terraform
• Database: Redis, MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Cloud: AWS
• Knowledge in networking protocols and services (e.g. SFTP, DHCP, VLANs, routing, load balancer, etc) with hands-on experience troubleshooting network issues.
• Hands-on experience with application development using agile methodology.
• Experience in deploying micro-service application.
• Experience in Incident , Change , inventory and security and patch management.
• Knowledge in using AI code assistant, deploying gen AI capabilities (AIOps) or operating/managing AI agents.
• Strong interest, curiosity and ambition to embrace agentic capabilities for infrastructure and cloud operations.
• Knowledge of various open source technologies.
• Good team player and communicator, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Background in Computer Engineering/Computer Science preferred, candidate who demonstrate strong relevant experience and skill sets will be considered.
• Certifications in the above-mentioned tools on point 1, DevOps and/or application development using agile methodology would be advantageous.
