Job summary

Salt is seeking a Jr. Platform Engineer to help build and automate a globally distributed energy trading platform.

You’ll work across Linux/Windows, cloud infrastructure, and on‑prem environments, focusing on deployments, troubleshooting, monitoring, and observability to keep critical applications running. You’ll explore AI-enabled operations, apply Kubernetes and Terraform knowledge, and collaborate across teams to find smarter, faster ways to operate.

Role Overview

Build the platform. Automate what slows us down. Explore what AI can do. Our client's platforms support a complex, global energy trading ecosystem, with products, teams and infrastructure spread across regions and environments. We're looking for a Jr. Platform Engineer to help keep that ecosystem running while also rethinking how they operate. You'll work across cloud and on-premise infrastructure, deployments, troubleshooting, monitoring and observability, helping teams diagnose issues and keep critical applications running. But we also want to change how some of this work gets done.

What you'll bring

You'll have a strong foundation in Linux/Windows, cloud infrastructure, networking, virtualization and containerisation, with hands-on experience or understanding of Kubernetes and Terraform. AWS is the main cloud environment, with Azure also relevant. You don't need to be an AI/ML engineer. What matters is that you're genuinely curious about AI, passionate about technology and always looking for a better way to solve a problem. You'll also be comfortable troubleshooting, working across teams and getting stuck into problems where the answer isn't immediately obvious.
