Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Senior Piping Stress Engineer to perform advanced stress analysis for oil & gas projects. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of industry experience, a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and strong proficiency in Caesar II software. This role requires significant expertise in offshore piping design and a strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, offering a dynamic work environment with technical challenges.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas FPSO, offshore platforms, petrochemical, or refinery industries.
  • Minimum of 8 years as a Piping Stress Engineer or Lead Stress Engineer for FPSO/offshore platform-based projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pipe stress analysis of piping systems as per ASME Codes.
  • Responsible for the design of all piping support components.
  • Prepares stress critical line lists as per the critical line selection criteria.
  • Produces deliverables including specifications and design calculations.

Job description

Kindly take note that this role will be placed in South Korea.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conducts pipe stress analysis of piping systems as per ASME Codes using Caesar II software.
  • Responsible for the design of all piping support components.
  • Reviews client technical requirements for piping stress engineering and establishes the Stress Design Basis/Philosophy for various load cases, specifications, standards, and guidelines for stress engineering execution.
  • Prepares stress critical line lists as per the critical line selection criteria.
  • Performs static analysis using CAESAR II for load cases such as dead weight, sustained loads, thermal expansion/contraction, wave acceleration, hog/sag deflections, occasional and environmental loads, blast load, fatigue, slug, transportation, module lift, and vibration analysis (FIV and AIV).
  • Coordinates the design of exclusive pipe supports as needed.
  • Evaluates nozzle loads utilizing WRC 107/297 capabilities in Caesar II.
  • Performs FEA evaluations of stresses at nozzles or for determining user-calculated SIFs using NozzlePro, FE/Pipe, or other FEA software.
  • Provides magnitude of hydrostatic and operating loads acting on guides and supports.
  • Participates in reviews of PFDs, P&IDs, piping ISOs, and structural drawings.
  • Produces deliverables including specifications, design calculations, progress reports, correspondence, procedures, bid evaluations, Engineering Change Notices, study reports, and various third-party submissions.
  • Complements piping layout from a pipe-stress engineering perspective.
  • Has a thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards including ASME, API, ABS, and other guidelines.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of process requirements and operations.
  • Applies expert knowledge to develop innovative solutions for technically challenging projects.
  • Assists in tender preparation and technical proposal submissions.
  • Travels occasionally to client and vendor premises for technical discussions, HAZOPs, project reviews, or to subcontractor fabrication yards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Over 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas FPSO, offshore platforms, petrochemical, or refinery industries.
  • Minimum of 8 years as a Piping Stress Engineer or Lead Stress Engineer for FPSO/offshore platform-based projects.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, regulations, and practices applicable to the design and construction of onshore and offshore structures or production facilities.
  • Expert knowledge in Caesar II pipe stress analysis software.
  • Expert knowledge of offshore piping design and industry codes.
  • Experience in AVEVA Modules (E3D, MDS, AVEVA Engineering) is a plus.
  • Proficient in Navisworks.
