We are seeking a dedicatedPhotographer & Content Creatorto capture the heart of Tzu Chi’s humanitarian efforts through impactful photography and authentic visual storytelling. This role focuses on photographing events and human-interest stories that reflect the compassion and connection at the core of our work. As part of our in-house media & storytelling team, you’ll also support short‑form video content creation for social media platforms. Job Descriptions
Photography & Visual Storytelling
- Participate in content strategy and assignment planning, contributing ideas for photo coverage, storytelling angles, and content formats.
- Attend and document events, activities, and human‑interest stories across Tzu Chi’s service centres through compelling photography.
- Capture meaningful, people‑focused images that support storytelling aligned with Tzu Chi’s mission and values.
- Collaborate with writers, editors, and videographers to develop cohesive multimedia content packages.
- Post‑process images with attention to technical quality and narrative clarity, including captioning and metadata tagging.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of images following established naming and filing protocols.
Image & Content Archiving
- Organise and maintain a clear, easy‑to‑access archive of all photos from staff and volunteers.
- Review volunteer‑submitted photos carefully to ensure they meet quality and filing standards.
- Adhere to departmental standards for metadata, tagging, and categorisation.
- Ensure all content complies with PDPA, consent and copyright standards.
- Support long‑term documentation efforts by maintaining high‑quality records of key activities and milestones.
Short‑Form Video & Social Content
- Support the production of simple short‑form videos (e.g. behind‑the‑scenes, volunteer features, event snippets) when needed.
- Assist with filming and basic editing using mobile or mirrorless setups and accessible editing tools (e.g. CapCut, Adobe Premiere).
- Contribute to digital storytelling efforts on platforms such as YouTube Shorts and TikTok under the editorial direction.
- Ensure all visual content aligns with Tzu Chi’s tone, values, and ethical representation guidelines.
Equipment & Admin Support
- Maintain photography equipment and accessories, ensuring regular charging, upkeep, and safe storage.
- Manage and fulfil two types of photo requests from internal departments:
- A. Provide existing photos from past events, activities, or published materials.
- B. Coordinate and arrange new photography sessions for events or special projects (e.g., volunteer ID photos), then deliver the final images.
- Assist in organising shoot logistics to ensure smooth operations and timely content delivery.
- Oversee image usage requests, securing proper approvals and ensuring compliance with privacy, copyright, and organisational policies.
Volunteer Engagement & Coordination
- Work with volunteer photographers and content contributors to support event and story coverage.
- Prepare pre‑shoot briefings, assign tasks, and follow up post‑event to ensure smooth collaboration.
- Maintain clear communication and a positive working relationship with media volunteers.
- Support basic training efforts, such as introductory photography workshops or field guidance, to build volunteer capacity.
Job Requirements
- Diploma in photography, visual communications, media production, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in photography, media, or content creation.
- Solid photography skills with a strong portfolio of events, portraits, and/or human‑interest stories.
- Basic short‑form video skills – comfortable with shooting and editing simple clips.
- Proficient with smartphones or mirrorless cameras for both photo and video.
- Basic knowledge of editing software (e.g. Lightroom, Photoshop, CapCut, Premiere Pro).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of what makes content engaging.
- Well‑organised, with good file management and archiving habits.
- Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Understanding of Mandarin is a plus (to handle Chinese‑language materials and interactions).
- Willingness to work outside office hours occasionally, with time‑off provided as compensation.
