Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The position is based at Kent Ridge Campus and involves supporting research on children’s self-regulation and brain development, collaborating with the PI and study team to translate findings into clinical practice and policy.

Appointments are made on a 1-year contract, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in health-related disciplines or biostatistics.
• Independent self-starter with critical thinking.
• Experience in a research setting for 2 years or more.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; foundational knowledge of one statistical package (SPSS, STATA, SAS, or R).
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to work in a team.
• Interest in children and willingness to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the cultural adaptation of a parent-child intervention curriculum.
• Recruit and consent research participants for a randomized effectiveness-implementation trial.
• Collect data from families, including parent-child interaction and neuroscience data at the lab and at healthcare settings.
• Ascertain high quality neuroscience (EEG/fNIRS) data and learn data processing.
• Maintain neuroscience equipment, keep proper inventory and records of assets.
• With assistance from lab members, complete literature search, grant applications and progress reports, IRB applications, or research posters.
• Learn to code research data and prepare data for analysis.
• Act as an intermittent liaison to communicate results with stakeholders.
• Learn about different psychological and cognitive assessments for children and assist in administration and scoring.
