Job summary

KLA is seeking a detail-oriented PCB Layout Engineer to design multi-layer, high-density PCBs for complex semiconductor tooling systems. You will work with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance meet strict requirements.

Responsibilities include translating schematics into manufacturable layouts, defining stack-ups and routing constraints, generating fabrication packages, performing DRC, and supporting prototype

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • 3–8+ years of PCB layout/design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in PCB design tools and signal integrity concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout multi-layer, high-density PCB boards, including component placement and signal routing.
  • Translate schematics into manufacturable PCB designs with focus on SI/PI and thermal performance.
  • Define stack-ups, impedance control, and routing constraints for high-speed designs (DDR, PCIe, SERDES).
  • Generate fabrication/assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, drawings, BOM).
  • Perform DRC, validation, and troubleshooting of PCB layouts.
  • Collaborate with EE/ME/manufacturing to understand design requirements and constraints.
  • Work with manufacturers to ensure DFM/ DFA compliance and successful production builds.
  • Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and layout optimization for cost/performance/yield.
  • Maintain design documentation, libraries, and revision control.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented PCB Layout Engineer to design and develop high-quality printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for complex electronic systems. This role will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

  • Design and layout multi-layer, high-density PCB boards, including component placement and signal routing
  • Translate schematics into manufacturable PCB designs with strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance
  • Define stack-ups, impedance control, and routing constraints for high-speed designs (e.g., DDR, PCIe, SERDES)
  • Generate complete PCB fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, drawings, BOM)
  • Perform design rule checks (DRC), validation, and troubleshooting of PCB layouts
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to understand design requirements and system constraints
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure DFM/DFA compliance and successful production builds
  • Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and layout optimization for cost, performance, and yield
  • Maintain design documentation, libraries, and revision control

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field 3-8+ years of experience in PCB layout/design (level dependent) Strong proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor, or Zuken) Solid understanding of: High-speed digital design Signal integrity (SI) / power integrity (PI) EMC/EMI mitigation techniques Experience with multi-layer, high-density boards and modern fabrication processes Familiarity wit PCB layout and routing expertise CAD/EDA proficiency Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Cross-functional collaboration (EE, ME, manufacturing) Attention to detail and documentation discipline

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with complex systems (industrial, semiconductor tools, automotive, or high-reliability electronics)
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFT best practices and cost optimization strategies
  • Experience with board bring-up, validation, and failure analysis
  • IPC CID certification or equivalent
