A leading consulting firm in Singapore is seeking a knowledgeable Payment Techno-Functional Consultant. This role is essential for designing and implementing payment systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in payment technology, strong analytical skills, and the capacity to bridge business needs with technical solutions. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, supporting integration processes, and troubleshooting payment issues across various platforms.
The Payment Techno-Functional Consultant is responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of payment systems and solutions. This role bridges business and technology by translating payment business requirements into functional and technical specifications, ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient payment processing across multiple channels.
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to payment systems and processes.
Design functional solutions for payment platforms including domestic and cross-border payments.
Configure and support payment systems such as payment hubs, core banking payment modules, and clearing systems.
Work on payment message formats and standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX, SEPA, RTGS, ACH, FAST, GIRO).
Coordinate with technical teams on integrations, APIs, middleware, and interfaces with internal and external systems.
Support end-to-end payment processing including initiation, validation, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
Participate in SIT, UAT, go-live, and post-production support activities.
Troubleshoot payment processing issues and perform root cause analysis.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and risk requirements.
Prepare functional specifications, process flows, test cases, and user documentation.
Strong understanding of payment business processes and banking operations.
Hands-on experience in payment systems or payment hubs.
Knowledge of payment standards and networks (SWIFT, ISO 20022, RTGS, ACH, SEPA, FAST, FPS).
Experience working with APIs, web services, and system integrations.
Ability to interpret technical designs and collaborate with development teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience working with stakeholders across business, operations, and IT teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
5–12 years of relevant experience in payments or banking technology roles.
Experience with Temenos Payments Hub, Finastra, FIS, or similar payment platforms.
Exposure to real-time payments and cross-border payment solutions.
Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance for payments.
Prior experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
