Job description

The NUS High School is a specialisedschool offering a seamless 6-year programme to students between the ages of 12+and 18 years and who have an aptitude for Mathematics and Science. We invitesuitable applicants for the following position.

PASTORAL COUNSELLOR

You will provide counselling and learning support, consultation, information and referral services for NUS High students within the school and in the hostel. Support will mostly be for social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and special educational needs (SEN). Your role will involve planning and implementing counselling, intervention and preventive programmes to support students in these areas.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related discipline. Relevant professional qualification in special needs education will be advantageous.
• At least 3 years’ experience in counseling and case work. Prior experience in working with youths would be advantageous.
• Passion and disposition to provide support for students’ social, emotional and mental well-being.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Drive and enthusiasm in working with students, school personnel, parents and other stakeholders.
• Previous experience working with children with SEN will be an advantage.
