Position Title: Parts Assistant

Position Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Parts Assistant to join our team in the electric vehicle (EV) automotive industry. The Parts Assistant will be responsible for managing the inventory, ordering, and supply of parts necessary for the maintenance and repair of electric vehicles. This role requires a solid understanding of automotive parts, particularly in the context of EV technology, and strong organizational skills to ensure efficient parts management within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Parts Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain an accurate inventory of parts and components required for electric vehicle repairs and service.
  • Perform regular stock audits and ensure parts are stored properly, minimizing damage and loss.
  • Work closely with the service department to ensure timely availability of parts for scheduled repairs and emergency requests.

Ordering and Procurement:

  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to order necessary EV parts and components.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality parts.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder parts in a timely manner to avoid shortages or excess inventory.

Parts Sourcing & Quality Control:

  • Ensure all parts meet quality and regulatory standards, particularly for EV-specific components such as batteries, charging systems, and electrical systems.
  • Source parts from reliable suppliers, ensuring compatibility with the specific EV models serviced by the company.

Parts Distribution:

  • Efficiently distribute parts to the service technicians, ensuring accurate and timely allocation based on service requirements.
  • Work closely with service advisors to track the status of service orders and ensure parts are ready when needed.

Customer Service and Support:

  • Assist customers with inquiries related to parts availability, pricing, and compatibility for EVs.
  • Manage the parts returns and warranty process, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.

Record Keeping & Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of parts orders, deliveries, and usage, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
  • Update and maintain accurate parts catalogs and databases for all EV parts.

Cost Control & Budgeting:

  • Track parts expenditure and manage costs within the allocated budget.
  • Help identify opportunities to reduce parts costs while maintaining service quality.

EV Knowledge & Training:

  • Stay up to date with the latest EV technology and parts, including battery systems, electric drivetrains, charging systems, and software updates.
  • Attend training sessions or workshops related to EV components and industry standards as needed.

Collaboration with Service Teams:

  • Collaborate with service advisors, technicians, and the workshop manager to understand parts requirements for ongoing and future repairs.
  • Provide technical support to service technicians regarding parts compatibility and installation procedures for EVs.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Specialized training or certification in electric vehicle (EV) parts and systems is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in automotive parts management, preferably in the EV or automotive sector. Familiarity with EV-specific parts and components, such as electric batteries, charging systems, electric motors, and electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with parts management software and inventory systems. Ability to troubleshoot parts issues and provide effective solutions. Strong knowledge of automotive industry standards and best practices, particularly for electric vehicles.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work in a team environment and provide support to service technicians and advisors.
