Part‑time ESL teacher for The Japanese School (Primary, Clementi)

The English Department is looking for candidates, who already reside in and are eligible to work in Singapore, to teach English part‑time starting on 07 January 2026. There is a possibility of being hired as a substitute teacher (ad hoc basis) before transitioning to the part‑time role in January 2026. We teach Japanese primary school students who have varying proficiency levels of English.

Basic qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree (preference will be given to those with a background in Education and/or teaching English as a Second Language).
  • A teaching certificate for English as a Second Language (at least 120 hours of instruction e.g. TESOL / CELTA / TEFL).
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language to children (ages 6-12) in a classroom setting is preferred.
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

  • Enjoys working with young children whose native tongue is not English.
  • Takes ownership at work.
  • Possesses a flexible, adaptable and humble attitude towards working, teaching and learning.
  • Has initiative and is also a team player who willingly demonstrates a cooperative spirit.
  • Respects the importance of punctuality, working hours and can adhere to deadlines.
  • Is able to work with people of different nationalities and backgrounds.
  • Has basic computer skills.

Working hours: Mondays – Fridays, 8:10am – 1:55pm (lunch hour: 12:05pm–12:50pm)

Monthly salary (starting from SGD$2,400.00)

This is a part‑time contract position which is renewable annually based on performance.
